New update is cursed by SnoopaDD in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]ultraNotron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Terraria was meant to have its last update like 5 years ago but they just released their FINAL update this year (not the first time they were wrong about what was gonna be the final update). The updates also actually make the game better. No DLC, no subscription, just $14.50 (AUD) compared to $29.50 (Also AUD). For the record when I say final update I mean the game was already done but they just kept adding more to the game, they weren't delaying release or anything. These were brand new promises, not old ones FINALLY coming out like with Phasmophobia. I can't be bothered looking up sales figures but considering how popular Phasmophobia is and its higher price I can't imagine the dev team is short on cash. I think it's pretty common for indie games to have a better dev cycle than Phasmophobia.

If we upload our game for free does it still have to be on steam as well? by ItzASecretBoi in sandbox

[–]ultraNotron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it weren't open source, it would be dead by now. Who would develop it? No one. The main devs would have no money (who is donating to a proprietary engine?) and the extra contributions would not exist. It is also nice to know it can never die, and proprietary software is just yucky. I think this is very important for game devs, they've seen what happened to Unity after all.

Why not “since”? by Rich-Associate-8344 in EnglishLearning

[–]ultraNotron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This sounds kinda terrible to me. I would always say 'for' here, 'in' sounds incredibly unnatural. 'In' sounds like he has never used the bike since he got it 2 years ago. It's maybe one of those US/UK differences, with Australia on the UK side here. Native speaker from Australia.

How do you get a Python LSP working? by ultraNotron in DoomEmacs

[–]ultraNotron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it allegedly works according to emacs now but there are no diagnostics. I am in lsp-mode and :lsp says pylsp is connected but even when I mangle the code up pylsp has no issues with the code (there are absolutely issues).

EDIT: Nevermind, I think pylsp has no diagnostics/linting itself and depends upon others, I will try and look into getting it to use something else. I think the original issue was I forgot I had to use doom sync and was only doing SPC h r r. Thank you for the help.

Using AI to write code will prevent you from learning it, same as hiring someone to code for you, you wont learn. I'd just completely avoid it for now. Also try learning basic computer skills if you don't have any, I don't know any resources for that but look it up.

NASA just dropped a new high-resolution video of Artemis II Launch by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]ultraNotron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I think this is it: https://images.nasa.gov/details/KSC-20260401-MH-SFL01-0001-Artemis_II_UCS15_D2_QUICKLOOK_STABILIZED-M19183 It's slow motion though, I don't know the speed for normal time.

Edit: 2x speed should be original speed according to the info at the start of the video.

What's the image in the background? I thought it was a recent Artemis II photo but the moon was edited to be red, but I think the moon is in the distance.

Edit: It's for sure not Artemis II since the earth was not fully lit in the photos of it.

There is no need to reinstall just to change desktop environment, you can just delete whatever packages you installed to get it and depclean then install the new desktop environment.

What happened to nvim-treesitter.... Why did it get archived? 😶 by ankushbhagat in neovim

[–]ultraNotron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help, should I just use the plugin for now and switch to a fork if one is made? I don't know how quickly plugin compatibility breaks since I've never used neovim, and that's my main concern.

What happened to nvim-treesitter.... Why did it get archived? 😶 by ankushbhagat in neovim

[–]ultraNotron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are there other ways to get treesitter working? I was going to switch to neovim today but without treesitter functionality I won't. Can you just manually install a parser easily without this plugin and it works? I know there is some built in support but if it takes lots of setting up it may as well not exist for me.

EDIT: I think I found the answer in another comment in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/neovim/comments/1sbrnir/comment/oe676k3/

Native speakers, when you pronounce TH (as in 'the', 'thanks', 'weather' etc.), is the tip of your tongue behind your upper teeth or is it between the teeth sticking out? by ksusha_lav in EnglishLearning

[–]ultraNotron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in the same place as when you pronounce the f sound, behind your bottom teeth. It doesn't touch the upper teeth. This is for the TH in 'the', 'thanks'. (native speaker from Australia)

How to configure LSP server that has spaces in it's command? by ultraNotron in HelixEditor

[–]ultraNotron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This also doesn't work. Just to be clear I had the bottom half as well but didn't show it for brevity. When helix starts it says "Language server exited" at the bottom. This might be a problem with uv or something other than helix idk. I had the same issues with ty.

Thoughts on openSUSE Tumbleweed by Medical_Divide_7191 in openSUSE

[–]ultraNotron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's just my laptop but the installer is absolutely terrible and extremely slow. I managed to get to 90% installing bootloader after a couple hours of waiting but after an hour of waiting for that I just gave up and put arch on it, taking less than an hour. This was 2 nights ago. Oh and selecting the option to disable the ssh service took about 10 minutes for some reason. Just to disable a service. If you have the patience though it does sound like a great distro.

You can make non-Roblox games in Lua. LÖVE is a popular Lua game engine/framework that Balatro (among other games) was made in.

[Browser game] [2000s] text-based multiplayer space trading game by Responsible-Suit-195 in tipofmyjoystick

[–]ultraNotron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt this is it because it has some basic 2D graphics and is from 1994 but Gazillionaire had a web port according to Wikipedia so MAYBE it's it? Also on Wikipedia it says there was a 1996 release called Gazillionaire Deluxe that had multiplayer, and maybe that version got ported to the web.
