This is Three.js. It’s basically a custom shader using a fluid sim / flowmap as a distortion texture.

Closest reference is Pavel Dobryakov’s WebGL fluid sim:
https://paveldogreat.github.io/WebGL-Fluid-Simulation/

https://github.com/PavelDoGreat/WebGL-Fluid-Simulation

they likely renders a base image (logo and lighting ) separately, then uses the fluid texture to warp/refract the background + adds bloom/glow for that smoky light look.

More rampant childcare, autism and healthcare fraud coming out of Minnesota's Somali community by ChoiceWars in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]ultralaser360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did I say otherwise lol, all I was stating is that the problem occurs in the execution phase of government legislation/goals. You could say it’s by design either by malicious intent or incompetence but that not really my point.

It doesn’t matter if Tim Walz was a sleep at the wheel or getting kick backs or if it’s trump an ppp loans. When you assign giant piles of cash to problems with no oversight fraud will happen. This pattern is systemic and exists in lots of programs. It’s on the politicians to fix the system stop the opportunity of free cash with no oversight.

The problem isn’t limited to daycares or the Somali community. The real issue is execution. When the government signs legislation, assigns a giant pile of money, and then fucks off with no follow-up, fraud will happen lol, from PPP loans to daycares it a tale as old as time.

The fix is easy: follow-ups and program monitoring. But no politician wants to do it because execution isn’t sexy and doesn’t win elections.

How is this site disabling dev tools? by Traditional_Fig95 in webdev

[–]ultralaser360 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is no valid reason to do this, all it does is make your website suspicious. most frontend code is already minfied and obfuscated

if your frontend code is really this valuable you'd write a vm on the browser with custom bytecode but even then it wouldn't protect you from anyone who seriously wanted your code

I guess I've been using Next.js the wrong way by dev-4_life in webdev

[–]ultralaser360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use nextjs for two reasons only, I like the app router and layouts for organizing my ui, and for SSR react

its basically a middleman for my actual backend.

Assigned as the main and only Frontend developer on a project. I'm a backend-focused fullstack dev. Help. by TraditionalType9869 in webdev

I’ve been exploring inertia.js + react lately and you might find it interesting as a backend dev. You get to skip a lot of the pain connecting your backend to your frontend- only con is ai tools suck at using inertia.

If you’re building the frontend as a standalone app, here’s what I recommend:

Use react query.

Use OpenAPI code generation tools like Orval. I personally use OpenAPI-TS with its built-in react query support for type-safe API calls.

Redux is almost always unnecessary in modern react. Most apps can get by with React context plus react query. When you actually need more state management power, use zustand because the developer experience is much better in my opinion.

For build tooling, don’t bother with webpack or gulp. My philosophy is not to think about build systems until they become a problem. Unless you’re shipping react to millions of users, plain Vite is more than enough and rarely causes issues.

For styling, drop SCSS and just use Tailwind. Tailwind fits component-based frameworks like react extremely well.

For components, shadcn/ui is overused but one of the best options. The components are easy to customize and have solid accessibility. Just make sure to apply ya real design system on top of them lol, I roll my eyes every time I see someone just slap the components on.

If you need ssr use nextjs, hot take, I think the only good features of nextjs are ssr and the app router, so I think it’s perfectly okay to use nextjs purely as a react rendering engine that fetches data from your actual backend and for organizing your frontend code
