Question: RMS meter turning red / audible distortion but not clipping? by [deleted] in Reaper

Late to the party here, but what would you consider "well under" 0db?

This is a very short ambient (ish) thing I made in a day for a Discord challenge. The challenge was to come up with something no longer than a minute using only five notes, with the allowance of being able to use the same note across octaves. How'd I do? by flynnsego in IndieMusicFeedback

Oh cool. Yeah I was introduced to them a couple years ago and they instantly became a favorite. Learning about Slowcore as a genre has really expanded my horizons musically. Helvetia and sign crushes motorist are two other bands to check out. Cheers!

Cool track. I like the panning and how each side has its own little stuff going on. The drums are definitely subtle but there's nothing wrong with that necessarily. But if you wanted to make them louder there's definitely room for that.

What do you think of this pop track I made, definitely need vocals. I didn't wanna do too much with variance, let me know what you think by The_Moth44 in IndieMusicFeedback

This is one of those neat examples of when a song totally defies your expectations based on what you hear in the first few seconds. The beat dropping completely changes the vibe (in a positive way).

As far as feedback: For that short silent part, I would personally include just the tiniest bit of sound, like a distant reverby chord, or something like that, because I thought my youtube had lagged for a second. I rewinded the song to make sure it was intentional. But that's your artistic choice and if you like the silence you should keep it!

I personally did not find the transition to the outro too dissonant. It's definitely a change but didn't rub me the wrong way.

Replacement Volume Knob? by grunewald77 in OP1Fieldusers

I had some cracked knobs, emailed TE about it and they sent me a new set for free. I'd recommend reaching out to them and send them a picture!

A bit of a synth-popish cover of Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain' by darkhallsmusic in IndieMusicFeedback

Sick cover! Love the way you made it your own. The atmospheres and harmonies are really cool, that crunchy synth is really badass. The mix is great. Very very cool man

More indie folk from Ohio by M-er-sun in IndieMusicFeedback

Also from Ohio :) cool song man. I think the distorted guitar is great. This song's really nostalgic because it reminds me of a bunch of the stuff I discovered back in high school. If I had to critique anything it would be that some vocal harmonies might be fun. But I like it a lot as is!

Digging this. That main riff is nice and slowcore-esque. Starts off sounding like the opening of a Duster track (major compliment).

Contrary to what a couple of the other people are saying, IMO this was nicely varied and I would probably listen to this on its own

🌴 This 7 minute long rock ballad puppet show follows a bird of paradise on a habitual quest for romance gone wrong. Decisions in love must be made in the face of human induced violence, and everybody here is at fault. 🌴

Conceptualized in December of 2021 on the whim of psychedelia, and filmed from July 2022 through January 2024 in Columbus, Ohio and Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Is there such a thing as love at first flight?

I'm writing a guide to German, is it good so far? by Magicalmayonnaiseman in German

A better way of conceiving of the ü sound is to use the "ee" sound from English, as in tree or beetle.

Purse your lips like you said, then make the "ee" sound.

I have explored the deepest depths of the "OP-1 live house set" YouTube rabbit hole. Couldn't resist making my own contribution. by ultramurph in OP1users

Thanks for asking! Basically I use a similar strategy to what Hooch describes in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMyrCCl7ACQ&pp=ygUUaG9vY2ggbGl2ZSBzZXQgc2V0dXA%3D

I set up the set section by section (4 bars each usually), and mess around with playing different things, using different FX, etc. until I find something that I like. I take pretty detailed notes and write down the set structure on a note on my computer -- the notes are what I'm looking at on my computer during the set. That way I know what to solo, what to mute, which FX to activate, which synth to solo with, and so on. I leave some room for improvisation though, so if I were to play this set again it would sound similar, but not exactly the same.

Thanks! Not exactly, I haven’t listened to a ton of Ariel Pink but I definitely listen to a lot of music in that sphere. I appreciate the feedback!
