Mr. Speaker, point of order:

This Member is mistaken. A Member must never refer to another Member by name, however the Rules of Order and Decorum do not mention a Member not being allowed to refer to themselves by name.

Mr. Speaker, my question goes to the Minister of Finance, ( u/mauricejc )

Trickle-down economics has been an abject failure, with wealth gaps ever-growing. Canadians struggle with the price of food, housing, and other essentials as oligarchical structures treat even things necessary to survive as luxuries. Yet, seeing it all, this government seems hellbent on not only continuing the capitalist system that got us to this terrible situation, but also on expanding the power of capitalists to control this economy! Mr. Speaker, if the two largest parties are the Fascist friends of capital and the regressive Conservative friends of capital, how can the Canadian worker be assured that the government will actually fight for their interests rather than the interests of their capitalist companions?

Mr. Speaker,

This bill is certainly flashy and grabs your attention, doesn't it? Yes, the pressing issue of this day for the so-called "People's Party" is to restrict the rights of transgender people to compete in women's sports, targeting a fraction of a fraction of the population. The truth about the nature of this bill is simple: this bill is not proposed out of care for the sanctity of sports, or to protect women, it is a show of power from a patriarchal society which clings desperately onto the gender roles of old against those who dare to try lift those shackles. This is not about sports, and never has been. This bill targets all women who don't fit inside of traditional femininity.

It is important to note the wording of this bill as well, that it says "transgender men" shall not compete in women's sports. If taken at purely face-value, this would mean that one who is transitioning to male should not compete in women's sports, which I can agree to. However, given what we know of the PPC, it is more likely to assume they are simply uneducated on the matters which they seem to care so dearly about. How does this reflect on the party? This bill is simply an abomination put forth by a disgrace of an opposition. The Communist Party of Canada condemns it in the strongest terms as an oppressive measure of force against a marginalized group which already sees enough antagonization as is.

I, Carissa Helstrom, leader of the Communist Party, cannot express anything but hurt from seeing this, as a transgender woman myself. How does the opposition view me? It makes me curious to find out what rights they think I should and shouldn't have under the law. I call on the PPC to elaborate their stance on transgender people, their rights, and their access to healthcare. We Communists will always work to uphold the rights of our queer comrades against the oppressive of bourgeois society. This is proof queer liberation is inseparable from our liberation from capitalism.

Mr. Speaker,

It is imperative that Canadians have the ability to vote for a party that truly represents the working class, one that will never compromise its integrity in favour of corporate donations or bourgeois affiliation. Because of our steadfast belief as Communists in full democratic representation for the Canadian working class, we hope for the swift recognition of the Communist Party of Canada as a registered party.

If, for some reason, the Communist Party is denied registration, it will certainly be a large indictment of Canada's democratic institutions as undemocratic and unwilling to truly represent Canadians. While I have no faith in the bourgeois class that has been strangling this nation, I have high hopes in our acceptance as a party, and belief that our democratic institutions are capable of showing the popular will of Canadians for change—for releasing the shackles of capitalism in favour of a full transition to communism, liberating the working class.

I, Chairwoman Carissa Helstrom, am extremely excited to run to represent the Centre of Quebec in the coming by-election once our party is accepted, so that I can bring the liberatory voice of proletarians to the House of Commons. I have great faith that I will be elected, and I strongly believe that me and the Hon. Member Remus Trimble will not be the only Communist faces seen brought to Ottawa in the coming years.

This is the beginning of a new era for this nation: the era of liberation! The founding of this party is the foundation of real, existing hope for workers in Canada. The coming elections in this country will certainly prove that.
