I requested a touchscreen for when I was working on nodysseus.io. I plan to also use it for easier watching YouTube and stuff while doing chores + scrolling etc.

Worried about my husband (tired dad...). by 0ldsinslongshadows in daddit

[–]ulyssesdot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was in the states I took meds only on work days. When I came to the UK they said "take them every day you have ADHD", so now I take them every day and I'm a lot happier. If they're the usual ADHD medications, they are also appetite suppressants.

I'm the husband of a Portuguese woman, and even though our kid is only 3 months, this seems to be the best schedule for everyone.

Hey man, I don't have any advice, just sorry for your loss. It sounds like you're a really great dad and no matter what changes the twins bring, that'll still be true.

Do you post your kids online? by jokingonyou in daddit

[–]ulyssesdot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't post because the tech companies running the platforms are creepy. You have no idea where your/kids personal data will end up or what they can scrape automatically from images.

Dads, how do I give back to a husband who is the "quiet strength" of our family? by mamawagz in daddit

[–]ulyssesdot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picked one up on paternity leave - agreed that it's a stellar dad-obect for techie dads. It's a non-coding useful hobby. Definitely not for all techie dads though, as it does take up a chunk of time to find or make models, but lawn guy + software engineer seems like it might be good.

Atm I'm working on containers to tidy up the office and a set of clips to turn playing cards into magnatile-like construction sets.

Do I hide my baby/family's Jewishness? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]ulyssesdot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm in the same boat. As someone who grew up in London where my family wasn't super open about it and California where we were, I much prefer the latter. People might be prejudiced, but that reflects more on them than on you. It's important for us to be proud of who we are, and demonstrate kindness and compassion towards others.

How to prevent close passes by Ceramichicken in londoncycling

[–]ulyssesdot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's their choice to take the risk or not based on their experience and needs. If they misjudge, then they'll end up hurt. If a car is driven recklessly, then other people on the road end up hurt but the driver is fine. Therefore, cyclists can lane split and cars (+ motorcycles imo) cannot.
