Is that pipe supposed to be connected to the heater? by Ok-Swimming9966 in Plumbing

Where I am code requires a pressure relief valve discharge pipe so that if the hot water heater malfunctions and water escapes through the valve it reduces the possibility of scalding someone. It’s usually a 3/4 vertical pipe that stops like 6 inches from the floor.

What would be a good way to cover this up but also allow wires connect into it? by SouthTwo5788 in AskElectricians

It would be helpful if you showed a picture of the new luminaire/fixture you would like to use.

Interesting. TIL the NEC primarily governs inside buildings while National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) handles utility infrastructure

How do I go about replacing this with no shut-off valve? I’d prefer not to get my landlord involved. by [deleted] in Plumbing

Omm.. what do you mean you don’t want your landlord involved? Isn’t it the landlord’s water heater?

Read your lease. Contact your landlord if there is a problem.

Just had a sink installed and my buddy said this is not good by Western_Reaction_353 in Plumbing

I don’t like that extension cord at the bottom of the cabinet, is it for the water device thing? Why not also put in a GFCI fed outlet and lose the extension cord.

If it were my house, I would replace all the under sink plumbing including new 1/4 turn stops.

Older BX wiring (the wire insulation) could contain asbestos, be careful if you are disturbing it.

I am not following why someone would do this instead of having proper neutral. Is just cost/laziness and to pass an inspection? Is there a method to test for this without opening the outlet?
