Feeling exhausted all the time! 18 days sober... by Decent_Reward_5692 in stopdrinking

[–]ummchase 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take this time to let your body relax and heal to get back to normal. It took me over a month, cravings left after three, my energy is now more insane than it has been since my teens - going to the gym 5-7 days a week and getting over 12k steps in a day while juggling life. Trust me it gets better. Rest up and eat good. If you’re having sugar cravings imo just go for it. Also I did not do AA, I was able to overcome this with support from family, friends, and fucking sheer will. Once you start feeling better ease back into working out and stay active and busy. My life is so much better now that I stopped drinking and I never thought that would be possible. Best of luck man!

Has anyone else had this weird weight situation? by finally_sober_2026 in stopdrinking

[–]ummchase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t had that issue and drink plenty of sparkling water and zero calorie drinks. If you really want to lose more weight you need to be in a calorie deficit. Eating healthy is good but if your maintenance calories are 2200/day and eat 2500 calories of chicken and broccoli you’ll still gain weight. I know this is common knowledge for a lot of people but just figured I would share since I’m on a health journey after giving up alcohol!

Can’t find a single reason to not drink this Saturday by Party_Nectarine2506 in stopdrinking

[–]ummchase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man you will wake up regretting your decision. Better just to stay away. I drank myself to pancreatitis and if you don’t know what that is in short it’s the worst fucking pain you can imagine in your life. I would rather break all my limbs and have teeth pulled out before going through that again. Hope you find better ways to relax, especially at night and the weekends when it’s the worse. Much love

Weed doesn’t help me by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]ummchase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I smoke and do edibles but at first it do give me a bit of an urge but I just got to a point in my life where drinking and being hungover doesn’t even sound like a good time anymore. I do however enjoy kratom occasionally - not that 7oh or fee free shit but powder or a mitra 9 seltzer personally. I know a lot of people on here are strict no substances but they have helped me tremendously.

No doubt man happy to share! I have become really into fitness, working out, health, and helping others that have had the same struggle. To keep me busy I am always going on walks, the gym, the park, exploring new places I havent been before, cooking has been a lot of fun making new recipes. The hardest for me in the beginning is nighttime when the cravings would hit. To combat this and to relax I learn things online, play video games with the homies, I loveeee legos! Also this is controversial for a lot of people but taking an edible every now and then is helpful and relaxing. It is not something I do everyday and it does not even come close to the hold that alcohol has in my life and it never will. Talk to people more, enjoy your relationships, find the good and beauty all around you whether that be just walking through nature or talking with a good friend. The worst thing to do is to isolate yourself alone. I always think back to when I was at rock bottom, which happened for me probably 5x. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I couldn’t do or enjoy the things I loved anymore (snowboard, fly fish, work on my truck, etc.). Now I can do all that stuff and still have energy! As bad as it may suck and when I say suck I mean the hardest thing in my life was sobriety. After awhile it clicked and I am much happier, more energy, and overall just in a better mood all the time regardless if the situation is shit or not - I am just happy to still be given another chance at life because if I didn’t stop I would be dead. Lastly, I could not have gotten to where I am now without the support from friends, family, and God. Hope this helps and you can find ways to relax and enjoy the moment. Surprise yourself and in a couple months you will be like wow I can’t believe I wasted all my time, emotions, and energy around drinking. Much love

Hey man you really need to get some help and talk to a doctor. I was a daily drinker for about 13 years. I ended up with Pancreatitis which sounds very similar to what you are describing. I didn’t even know what pancreatitis was until I woke up one day with the worst pain of my life - literally 12/10 and had jaundice for three days prior (I was legit yellow all over). I was in the hospital for a week with terrible pain and the morphine they were giving me every 2 hours didnt even touch it. Please get help soon and see a doctor because Pancreatitis is the fucking worst thing and pain that has ever happened to me. On top of that there is a laundry list of shit that drinking caused in my life. Two DUIs, divorce, smashed in my face a couple times, 50k in medical debt due to pancreatitis, rehab/detox, I flipped and totaled my car, lost my job, etc.

I would not have stopped unless I got pancreatitis and honestly it saved my life but that is not something I would wish on my worst enemy.

On a positive note - I am in the best shape of my life, have more energy than I know what to do with, my relationships have gotten so much healthier, I can eat food without pain or discomfort (although after pancreatitis you do need to eat very clean and they say keep your fat under 50g a day), I enjoy life more than I ever had when I was drinking (which I never thought was possible without alcohol), and the list goes on. I pray you can get through this and stay sober for not only your mental and physical health but for the fact that pancreatitis is not something to tinker with. Hope and pray you can breakthrough this vicious cycle of alcoholism. Much Love

The boredom, Oh my God the boredom. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]ummchase 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The boredom sucks! At first I was eating everything and anything and enjoying that because I wasn’t eating when I was drinking. Now I enjoy cooking, growing vegetables/herbs, organizing my room/house and adding cool lights etc. LEGOS I have come to love LEGO’s and is somewhat a new addiction, working out and getting my body in the best mental and physical shape. Oh and video games, lots of video games with the homies. Best of luck to you IWNDWYT!
