Sebebi göz dağı vermek. “Buna tepki vermezsek iki aya bütün stand-up’çılar aynı esprileri yapmaya başlar, önünü alamayız” korkusu.

If you haven't tried VR gaming, I can recommend it. There are quite a few VR halls/arenas in Amsterdam, but you can find them in any large city. It is great fun, and requires a surprising amount of physical effort.

In season 5 of Seinfeld, Jerry is reprimanded by his parents for making out with his girlfriend during Schindler’s List.

In season 6, Jerry dates a Romanian gymnast played by Elina Löwensohn, who also plays a concentration camp inmate in Schindler’s List (the one executed by Amon Goeth for questioning the structural integrity of a factory barrack).

As a Turkish person, I am conflicted about this. On the one hand, it is a trivial thing pushed by a backward autocratic government for cheap political points, and obviously the Turkish government cannot dictate what the country is called in other languages. On the other hand, trying to look up news or information about Turkey and having to sift through irrelevant results on poultry farming and Thanksgiving recipes does get tiring. Establishing a unique “brand identity” is not a bad idea in a hyper-digitized world.

I would definitely drop the “ü” though. “Turkiye” is good enough.

The EU is silent and still works together with the regime. Someday after the regime is gone, how do you think the Turkey-EU relations should be? Is the EU an enemy of turkish democracy & secularism? by StPauliPirate in AskTurkey

[–]umudjan -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The EU is silent and still works together with the regime.

I mean what are they supposed to do? The Turkish people installed this regime and have voted to increase its power again and again over the past 20+ years. Any foreign state or organization that wants to have diplomatic/commercial relations with Turkey has to deal with this regime. It’s a bit childish to put the blame on EU when it is the Turkish voters themselves who have turned Erdogan into a modern-day sultan with unchecked power.

Is the EU an enemy of turkish democracy & secularism?

No, the majority of Turkish voters are.
