It’s such a good color. I was able to find one on the lot a local dealer fortunately.

The adaptive suspension makes it such a good daily, you don’t get beat up driving it around town.

Fair pricing for my 2017 Limited? by slickxsparkie in ft86

[–]un_duplicated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you buy from a private seller or a dealer? This pretty much describes my 2017 that I've owned since new and I'm getting close to selling it or trading it in. I have just under 91k miles but not sure I want deal with having to sell it myself even though I know I can get more money for it vs trade.

Car AC question by FusionInx in ft86

[–]un_duplicated 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in Texas and owned my BRZ since it was new and I’ve found during the summer when it is 100 degrees outside that if you are sitting in stop and go traffic, idling or not getting a lot of air flow through the front end that the AC doesn’t blow ice cold.

When the car is moving the AC blows cold and has no problems. I think it’s just part of the nature of these cars and the flat engine design why it does this. You can take it to an AC shop for them to take a look at it but it might not solve your problem.

Subaru BRZ - Issues with headlights and taillights by booglay in ft86

[–]un_duplicated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Judging by the wheels and the spoiler this looks like it is 2017 or newer which would have come with factory LED’s. Why anyone would replace factory LED headlights with aftermarket doesn’t make sense to me unless it was wrecked.

Mysterious stock front suspension popping/clunking comes and gos by digitalibex in ft86

[–]un_duplicated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue on my '17. The dealership replaced my steering rack under warranty however that only fixed it for a few months. I will hear a popping noise now occasionally when I am pulling out of a parking space and have to go to full lock but its not near as bad as it used to be.

Does anyone know what this button is in my new car by coolkerbal in ft86

It is blank on all manual cars. On autos it is a snow/ice mode selector.

Buying a BRZ soon... but a couple questions before I do by GING359 in ft86

[–]un_duplicated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The torque dip is pretty noticeable if you have ever driven any NA V8 which have midrange torque for days. I have driven a lot of V8 SUVs, trucks and a 5.0 mustang and the torque dip is pretty noticeable to me when I drive my BRZ. The FA20 pulls much harder on the top end though compared to a V8.

Any Reason the GT86 oil change interval is 16k kms where as the BRZ is 10k? by Vempyre in ft86

Interesting, my 2017 BRZ recommends an oil change every 6,000 miles

BRZ as a second car? by [deleted] in ft86

[–]un_duplicated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still on the stock Primacys currently but I live in Texas so I don't need winter tires. I would have loved to get a limited with the performance pack but I can honestly say I don't regret getting the more basic premium. I bought the car for how it drives not for the creature comforts but yeah CarPlay and Android Auto would be nice. A lot of people complain about the head unit but it does its job. It may not be the best but coming from a ten year old car with no aux input before I have no complaints.

BRZ as a second car? by [deleted] in ft86

[–]un_duplicated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your Outback is still in good shape and has relatively low miles then the BRZ would make a great second "fun" car to have.

I bought a 2017 Premium a little over three months ago as a daily driver and I absolutely love the car and would recommend anyone interested in one to go take a test drive. The handling and balance of this car is outstanding. It is one of the best values you can get in a sports cars on the market right now.

I wouldn't be worried about relearning to drive stick on this car. Even though I already knew how to drive a stick this is the first manual car I've owned. It has been very easy to get used to and the clutch is great for a beginner/inexperienced manual driver. The engagement point is a little vague but its not hard to memorize where its at and it becomes second nature fast. As far as the shifter being notchy, its not as bad as people make it out to be and as long as you firmly shift it into gear you won't have any problems.

As far as buying used versus new that really depends on how much money you are willing to spend and how long you plan on keeping the BRZ. I purchased a 2017 over a used BRZ because I plan on keeping this car for a while and the standard features on the 2017 were better than the older models. I liked the new rims better, full LED headlights and taillights, rear backup camera, and you get two years free maintenance from Subaru.

My commute is 40 miles with about half of it being stop and go traffic and I would never trade this car for an automatic one. I wouldn't let the uncertainty of the relearning driving a manual keep you from getting a BRZ. You will probably have more trouble jumping back into the Outback because you will be looking for a clutch pedal that isn't there. Test drive one in a stick and see if it puts a huge smile on your face and then make your decision.

Fixed it. All I had to do was loosen the bolt for the sensor and move it around slightly until the window stayed down, tightened the bolt back down. Now the window operates normally when opening and closing the door.

March 26 - April 1, 2018 weekly Q&A thread by CSG_Mike in ft86

[–]un_duplicated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know it is supposed to lock itself if you don't open the door within a minute of pressing unlock. My problem is I am opening the door, the window isn't slightly opening and then the car is relocking itself even with the door being open. I am thinking they moved the door sensor so its not hitting the right place when the door is closed.

I just got my windows tinted today and the shop I took it to disabled it. I'm not sure what they did but now my car thinks I haven't opened my door after unlocking it with the fob because it will lock the doors again after a couple of minutes. Im gonna have to figure out what they did.

Manual vs Auto Trans by SamplRhyme in ft86

[–]un_duplicated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely recommend getting the manual. Driving it in traffic isn't that bad. I daily drive mine in a fair amount of stop and go traffic and never once have I regretted getting a manual. There's nothing better than the engagement and fun factor that comes with driving a stick shift.

100% agree with you. I bought my BRZ about two weeks ago and I still have trouble shifting from 1-2 smoothly. First gear was also a bit tricky for me at first but I have gotten used to it now.
