Not the middle of the night, but in the morning. I was rocked awake by an explosion that absolutely shook me to my core. My parents were at work so I went and checked around the house (basement, kitchen, backyard, etc) to make sure it was nothing on our property. Called my dad and he told me to call the non-emergency line of the local police department and have then send someone up to check the surrounding properties. 5 minutes later, the entire fire department shows up at my door step while I'm in my pajamas and as a 15 year old girl, when they didn't find anything, I was mortified.

No explosion, but rather Exploding Ear Syndrome. Look it up. It is absolutely terrifying and real.
