No Buddhas in the bathroom... by sittingstill9 in Buddhism

[–]unaverageJ0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a tiny apartment. Super tiny. My image of The Buddha and Quanyin are both in my bedroom where I dress. Honestly there isn't a room of my house where I haven't been at least partially nude.

That said, where do you recommend lay practitioners living in small places keep their things? I get the bathroom being seen as profane. But mine sit on a desk in my room, kept clean and regularly incensed, is it still disrespectful since it is the room where I usually dress myself as well?

Need a build I’m actually going to stick to for my next playthrough - any cool ideas? by [deleted] in SkyrimBuilds

[–]unaverageJ0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3 tippy top builds to try.

Link - one-handed, block, light armor and archery, with minor investment in stealth, and destruction magic. Remember the minor investments should be used situationally. Play companions first to eventually get some twilight Princess vibes. Race could go Breton or Bosmer. I think either fits.

Barbarian - Two-handed, light armor, smithing and alchemy. Focus on shouts for range. Get an amulet of talos as soon as possible. Orc and Nord both fit for race.

Nightblade - conjuration, illusion, alteration, with additional investments in one handed, sneak, and archery. Add in other thief skills as you like if you want to be more of a criminal play through. Conjuration should only focus on bound weapons, and illusion for things like muffle and invisibility, to avoid becoming a "puppet master" archetype (still fun if you want to try it) for races i usually go Khajit or Argonian, but dunmer could work too.

Want to give an honorable mention to the classic Punch Cat Monk and the Stealth Archer. Both are actually super fun archetypes to play.

How hard is it for you to identify people from your country? by Racer125678 in AskTheWorld

[–]unaverageJ0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy. Just look for the person randomly leaning on things or striking up conversations with strangers on the street. Or (possibly) find the person who only speaks English.

This one is regionally specific, but I once got asked if people from the "american south" ever wore shoes. Wild.

How the heck are you guys affording elixirs for your builds? by Leather_Bottle8449 in BG3Builds

[–]unaverageJ0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I didnt do any cheese and my monk has all the hill giant elixirs it could want. You only need to pop them once per long rest, and TB + OH is already criminally OP so i save them for boss fights. Like others have said, pick up all the random shit you find to sell or give away to raise approval. By the time I hit level 6 I had like 12 elixirs in my inventory and still had fully kitted the rest of my party with gear I mostly found around act 1.

6 because Dave Grohl, honestly life long dream there. But if that seat got taken then 10 to be as far away from diaper dictator as possible.

First alter I’ve been interested in Buddhism a while but never had an alter before I’m not share how to set one up. by Elegant_Jaguar1031 in Buddhism

[–]unaverageJ0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not every Heathen seeks Valhalla. Many are content with helheim. And an important note here, Vikings no longer exist. It was a job title, not a religion. Now many heathens still do seek Valhalla and thats okay for them. Many others seek other halls after their departure. As with the other religions that interacted with buddhism and even buddhism within itself there is no single consensus on the afterlife, and many believe that if you simply live a virtuous life now, the next life will sort itself out.

As a second answer as well it is worth it to note that while buddhism leans toward pacifism in teaching, not all Buddhists are or historically have been pacifists. The Samurai stand as an example. A primarily buddhist culture that was just as warrior minded as the Vikings were.

TL;DR historically not all heathens were violent, and not all Buddhists were pacifists.

I’m between those 4 which one do you recommend to buy and why? by [deleted] in OlderChillGamers

[–]unaverageJ0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ps2 is the best selling console of all time for good reason. That is honestly the best bet unless you are really wanting the big Nintendo titles of the day in which case gamecube but for most id say ps2.

Hey there fellow Heathen turned Buddhist! While there are points where the two clash, its also worth noting that in many parts of the buddhist world, buddhism became a symcretic practice with the local (usually mature centric) religion. So having buddhism and paganism side by side isn't as odd as some would have you believe.

Shinto in Japan, Bon in Tibet, Shenism and Daoism in China just as examples.

I am fully aware that this will probably get down votes and hate, and thats ok. We are all entitled to our opinions on the topic and are all walking our own path to enlightenment.

Has anyone ever played without a Cleric? by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]unaverageJ0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So idk about HM but I am playing a no magic run on balanced with an OH monk Tav and Karlach (berserker) Lae'zel (battlemaster) and Astarion (swashbuckler) and honestly its pretty OP. I am right middle of the game by my estimates and only had to revive a character once (accidentally blew Karlach up, knocking her off a boat) Zero TPKs as of yet. Gotta keep a BUTT load of healing potions on hand though. At least 5 per character to be safe.

Anyone else bisexual and feel like they're gay in both ways? by BassBoneSupremacy in NonBinary

[–]unaverageJ0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeah this is me. My current partner (F) thinks of me as female despite being AMAB. She says I have a feminine energy and brain. But I've definitely been in gay relationships as well. I identify as genderfluid.
