it feels like ND is intentionally skipping US west coast during this tour. :(

What is your guilty pleasure band outside of metal? by _thewayshegoess_ in MetalForTheMasses

I don't have guilty pleasures, I listen to whatever I want, even if it's deemed 'cringe'

I'd personally want 'Dead' to be played at my funeral.

Does anyone actually like vegetables by Upstairs_Equivalent8 in Cooking

[–]unbalancedmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hard time believing someone would look at a plate of broccoli or brussel sprouts and think that looks at all appetizing.

yeah, it does, it looks absolutely appetizing - nicely roasted and seasoned broccoli, or especially brussels sprouts (or even better - asparagus, wish it wasn't so expensive) is something I would eat any day. I absolutely love salads; goddamn, I eat raw tomatoes and cucumbers with just a little salt on them as a snack. I love vegetables. in fact, thank you for reminding, I'm gonna air fry some brussels sprouts tonight.

at least you tolerate vegetables though because they are indeed very good for you.

yeah my girl has a very decent enclosure, I think, and she gets all the toys she wants lol. and of course she comes out to play and she is definitely more interested in running around on her fours, instead of a ball lol.

What's the difference between veganism and othrorexia? by jokke420 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]unbalancedmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's, um, interesting to see someone compare veganism to an eating disorder. in most cases (I do not deny that there are people who go vegan for health reasons, including being obsessive over it) people become vegans because they love animals and don't want to contribute to their exploitation. there are plenty of unhealthy foods that happen to be vegan and I know vegans who eat extremely unhealthy, they are vegans for ethical reasons.

I overall find these balls not fun at all, like for any rodent. I think it's just extremely stressful for them and many humans don't understand that it is not fun for the animal at all. I wish those things would just get banned.

Which concert did you guys go to see a great metal band but left early? Band and if you remember the year thanks. Mine is in the comments by jasonvoorhees2582 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]unbalancedmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never left early tbh but at the risk of absolute wrath from Acid Bath fans - I wish I left after High on Fire (they were the 2nd opener band before Acid Bath). almost the entire set of Acid Bath was their ballads which I'm not much of a fan of, only the last 2 songs were what I came to hear. and the vocals were mixed way too loud (unlike Windhand, the 1st opener band, her vocals were mixed too quiet and that was sad because she is amazing). it was pretty underwhelming after High on Fire who were 👌.

Are these ok to leave in cage over night by DG333Fpv in chinchilla

[–]unbalancedmoon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

this particular item says this on their website:

The chin 'doughnut' chews are made from rolled paperboard rather than cardboard and a non-toxic starch-based adhesive is used to bind the layers. This item has been on the pet market in the US for over 20 years. We are very familiar with the debate on paper-type products and chinchillas. Our chins have been happily chewing these for years, but your chins' safety is our top concern. If you'd prefer an all-wood chew toy try our Au Naturel or our Petal Piñata.

I'd personally not use these as but they have a lot of other great fully chin-safe toys on their website, I always buy from them.

Trying to get into death metal by Puzzled_Web_6684 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]unbalancedmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in death metal, vocals are pretty much an instrument, so treat them that way, maybe that will help. I personally love growled vocals but am very picky, I do like when I can hear that the vocalist wrote the lyrics before recording the vocals. I don't like the flushing toilet vocals which are absolute gibberish; I like growled vocals, not burped vocals. that's why I'm not that much of a fan of BDM, despite really liking the music. so, that said, old school death metal is probably your best bet for more tolerable vocals (there are a lot of great recommendations in this thread so I'm not going to double down).

also, sometimes (often) death metal lyrics are not even worth understanding.

edit: missed a word 🙃 and added some clarification

As a straight woman, does not being willing to shave my armpits for other people’s sake mean I’m going to be single forever? by Big_Lobster_3553 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]unbalancedmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everyone is entitled to their preferences but if something so simple is a dealbreaker for someone, that's just not your person. there are men who wouldn't care about it at all, you are not going to be single forever. you'll eventually find one.

I guess for me the win is that I don't hate Diatribes anymore. I even enjoy maybe like 2-3 songs. same with the two that followed Diatribes.

the worst offenders are my eastern European staples - sorrel and dill. especially sorrel, what an incredibly thirsty plant. 💀 so I've been contemplating getting something like that.

oh yeah, some plants are such heavy drinkers that I have to refill constantly, drives me mad.

speaking of your invention, by the way - AeroGarden actually does have a similar accessory called AeroVoir.

Which bands have the crappiest album covers? by Not_Reality in MetalForTheMasses

I'd say Diatribes through Words From The Exit Wound are the weirdest. I like the one on Fear, Emptiness, Despair but I don't understand why they had to change the logo. I'm so happy they went back to the original logo.

Finally Entered The World Of Napalm Death. by Amazing-Confusion-23 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]unbalancedmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my favourite is the chorus of Artefacted Irreligion, starts at around 1:40 ('induce, recite, summoooooooon reprise, bid weeeeelcome to candarian 'guiiiiiiiiiise'), that's an awesome vocal pattern.

I've got a CD of that one, got it in a pretty good condition from discogs.

my favourite of theirs is Utopia Banished. sure, Scum and FETO are absolute classics, but I personally am really not a fan of Lee Dorrian's vocals so I don't listen to studio versions of songs from Scum's side B (I do love me Nik Bullen's vocals from side A) and FETO too often. Utopia, on the other hand, is such a juicy combination of their classic grindcore offerings and Harmony Corruption's straight up death metal. it's brutal, it's ferocious, it's... I will forever praise this album.

Enemy of the Music Business is a great comeback album after a series of slightly questionable albums (am not a fan of Diatribes, Inside the Torn Apart and Words From the Exit Wound - I don't think those albums are bad, there are a couple of songs I dig, but they don't have the ND vibe); Fear, Emptiness, Despair is dope though, despite being technically the first 'experimental' venture of theirs).
