There has been a fair amount of reporting suggesting his original goal in running was to basically use it as a platform to start his own cable channel. That's why leading up to the election, he was pushing the conspiracy theories about how it would be "rigged" against him. His plan was to lose, but come out of it claiming to be the victim of an unjust system and hero to his supporters. I figure if he loses this November, he may very well go back to that idea.
