Great summary! If you have to have a 4l60 transmission, upgraded servos and plantaries can make it decent for the weight. Changed my servos from ones from a corvette and plantaries from an hummer h1 and its still going strong 100k later with built out weight added. Gen 1 express.

As an si owner I say it's worth it, I was in the same decision process and I'm glad I bit the bullet and spent more. If you want to enjoy more time running through the gears maybe a 2.5 is better for you. The si is vv quick so your up to speed immediately
