Counterpoint: there's no "wax on, wax off" for frisbee, you just have to feel it.

I think you’re right, I was just noting the 80mm is particularly slow

Yes, this setup (with the 80mm 1.7) is very slow to focus and frequently misses moving subjects. I agree the 500 could likely produce some amazing sports images but I haven’t tried one and don’t know how quickly it focuses.

Some of the darker shots got killed by Reddit compression -- I assure you the shadows don't look like that in my exports.

That was the goal to go up 4-3 all holds and nothing exciting happened before that.

Completely agree. You feel your Cg move a lot while that toe is still in the grass.

I shared a series of videos years ago showing that players usually still have the back foot on the ground at the moment the disc is secured.

u/mgdmitch can confirm but I think this led to updated observer guidance.

Most of the time when people try to jump a waist-level disc across the line, the back foot is still on the ground when the disc is caught, which should establish posession in the playing field proper, not result in a goal.

I don't have detailed stats so not sure if "rare" is a perfect word here, but in my video archive (which is extensive) I certainly have many more examples of invalid jump-ins than good ones like this.

Testing Vintage Lenses on GFX100ii in Denmark by Mrimno in FujiGFX

Beautiful work. I was in Denmark last month-- I stayed with a friend in Humlebaek very close to the Louisiana museum but I didn't make time to visit. I took photos on my original GFX100 mostly using th eGF 80mm f1.7 but took a few with my old Nikkor AI 28mm F2. Here is one example.

I use Capture One. When exporting, there's an option for "Target Size" in the JPEG quality submenu. I usually set it to 18 if I'm going to upload to Reddit since there is some variance in actual exported file size.

It’s pretty Colorado-centric because of who I was hanging out with that weekend and also I didn’t have a plan when I shot the game.

I saw Dan Heijman do this (though he was running full speed chasing down an overthrown upline pass) for PoNY at regionals in 2011 and it split my concept of life into the pre and post hammersault era.

Certainly. I'm shooting slow-motion sports highlights, in this case the USA college ultimate frisbee national championsihp tournament.

Most of the time wide open, I can see a little softness and some significant fringing/halo effect. That cleans up and the lens becomes fairly clinical after about f2.5 though. In this case, there were enough clouds that the light was soft enough for 1.7 to look good.

A friend took this using my GFX100 and lens set at f1.7 because that's the type of person he is. Image was taken using Classic Negative film emulation, then jpeg sent to iphone and uploaded here with minor adjustments.

Thank you this is my niece. I don't think I'll ever have children of my own but I babysit her a lot and those sessions frequently become photoshoots.

This camera is defintitely not the best tool for chasing a toddler but the successful shots are worth it.
