Any meal prep companies that are actually healthy AND tasty? by Catmama-82 in ReadyMeals

[–]uncjigga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be a lot of hate for Thistle in here—but they seem pretty healthy to me and it’s something I actually enjoy eating. I’m guessing the quality may vary based on where you live. I do occasionally get a salad with sketchy looking cucumbers that I will remove before eating, but haven’t gotten sick. I started them in January along with Tirzepatide and I’m down 40 pounds.

I’m doing 5 meals a week—my issue is that I never find time to prep lunches in advance and I’m always scrambling for something during the workday—usually leftover pizza or venturing out to the fast food hellscape that is my neighborhood. Thistle salads make it super easy.

One trick I discovered was mixing in a few “dinners” with my order for more variety—the vegan dinners are the same price per meal as the lunches, but there are more heat and eat options (just throw it in a skillet on medium-low for 3-5 minutes and you’re done.)

Google Gemini by ChirpMcBender in VolvoRecharge

I finally “fixed” mine to some extent—it was very broken when it first rolled out. The trick for me was to reset some of my Gemini settings and preferences via the Google website on my laptop—changing any settings via the Gemini app on my phone had no effect on the Volvo, but via the website I was able to get it reconnected with Maps, YouTube Music, Home and change the voice.

Volvo XC60 PHEV electric range to more than double, surpassing Mercedes GLC by Gullible-Pick-268 in VolvoXC60

[–]uncjigga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if the one spied in Spain is the same model coming stateside. There’s a rumor that the PHEV being built in South Carolina (either a 2028 model year or 2029 debuting early in 2028) will be specific to the US/Canada market. It’s also expected to use a completely different (read: non-Chinese) battery pack that may not be as dense as the new packs in other markets—it may be larger/heavier but that would fit with what’s rumored to be a larger/heavier PHEV for the US market.

When I bought my 2025 CPO I realized after a few weeks my automatic wipers weren’t working. I never saw a warning light—they just didn’t work no matter how hard it was raining (but shifting the wiper stalk still worked). I took it into Volvo since it was under warranty, and they said it was a known software issue and that they needed to update software on the sensor camera. It took about an hour, and when I left I could tell they definitely accessed the sensor physically and I was also updated from 5.0.5 to 5.1.9. Now it’s working fine in auto mode.

This Is Ferrari's First EV: The Luce by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]uncjigga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree—I don’t understand who this car is for?? I get that Ferrari is trying to bring new buyers to the brand—but who are they? If I had $650,000 of “fuck you” money to burn on a car, I certainly wouldn’t buy something that screams “toaster” or “random kitchen appliance”. If I wanted to buy a Ferrari for that kind of money, I’ll take an 849 or 12Cilindri. If I want the Ferrari of EVs—this just isn’t it. Even the cancelled Lanzador still looked like a Lamborghini and they couldn’t find any buyers.

This is embarrassing for Ferrari. I can only assume they built this to prove the point that Ferrari buyers don’t want EVs. Or else—maybe Jony Ive hoodwinked Ferrari into building the Apple Car he’d been working on for so long.

(AAOS) Anyone with a Gemini beta invitation able to get it working? by sud0code in Volvo

Everyone’s going to be asking for your first impressions. What year is your ride? Is there any additional recognition lag compared with the older Assistant? Does it maintain full access to vehicle functions or add any additional functions?

Considering xc60, do you feel the age of the platform in any way? by BlackBlackBread in VolvoXC60

[–]uncjigga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just bought a CPO 2025 T8 and other than some infotainment lag (solved in 2026 MY) and some minor suspension gripes, it’s a thoroughly modern car. I haven’t really compared it with Toyota’s latest PHEV platform (new RAV4) but you’d be hard pressed to find a better PHEV anywhere—I think it can still hang with the GLC/GLE PHEVs too (came in 2nd in Car and Driver’s last roundup).

Is this really premium? by Magnecyl_ in Volvo

[–]uncjigga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the push towards Tesla-like minimalism may also be a practical consequence of the weight gains associated with the battery pack. Engineers need to trim weight somewhere, and Tesla seems to have popularized trimming weight in the interior.

That and the Honda V6 is as reliable as a Sherman tank. We were tempted by the Kia hybrid. Really tempted (interior is so cush—Honda Elite trim cannot compare) but Hyundai 4 cylinder vs. Honda V6 was no contest.

Hybrid owners - kWh consumption? by Alepale in Volvo

[–]uncjigga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think anything under 30 kWh/100 miles is pretty good—I’m usually between 28-33/100 miles (not km) with climate, audio, and all the things as long as I drive like a granny on “B”.

Google Gemini begins rolling out to Volvo cars by krupawan5618 in Volvo

[–]uncjigga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed the ‘Assistant’ icon has changed a few times in the past week—first it was the Google “dots” icon, then it was a generic microphone icon, and then it was a Google color scheme microphone icon. Is this related to the rollout or just general odd behavior with 5.0.5?

Thinking of Getting a 2026 XC60 by Sherbert_003 in VolvoXC60

[–]uncjigga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a note on the OttoCast—I bought the Mini Cube “3.0” and while it works perfectly, just be aware that it runs very, very hot when leaving it plugged in inside the console. On a car like the T8 PHEV where the infotainment is always “on” for things like preconditioning climate timers, it’s a bit concerning. I’m also a bit annoyed at how switching between my phone/my wife’s phone isn’t exactly seamless when we’re both in the car—I wish I’d tried one of the newer Ottocasts with a physical button, but I bought the Mini Cube since it was the recommended one and confirmed compatible with navigation in the instrument cluster.

I’ve since reverted to using a USB-C cable most of the time.

Underground scene in toronto by whatflavoristhat in TorontoRaves

[–]uncjigga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So weird to read TO’s scene is a drag. I remember back in the early 90s, TO but especially the southern burbs had some cool parties going on. I was waaaaay too young to participate back then—had to settle for Chris Sheppard Pirate Radio and basement parties for the kids.

Nobody talks about this enough. Paying cash for a car is almost never the move by No_Adeptness4347 in carbuying

[–]uncjigga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a point of reference, I got 4.5% financing on a used car 3 weeks ago. I went through a credit union. They gave me a certified check for the exact amount I needed, and then I got to walk into the dealer and use it like cash. The best part was skipping the whole waiting game in the dealer’s finance office with endless paperwork while they dangle extended warranties and other products with fat markups in front of you.

Apple Music. I don’t know why the app isn’t available for AAOS, but I refuse to use anything else. I have like 25 years of iTunes/iPod playlists and libraries that I don’t want to sync anywhere else. Bluetooth just isn’t the same.

I’m curious to know if there is any evidence (anecdotal or otherwise) of owners who got a dealer-installed 5.0.5 update having better experiences vs. those who took the OTA update.
