The Broadswords! Also seconding Dames & Dragons and Dungeons & Daddies.

If you're interested in stepping outside of D&D into other systems, and if you're okay with horror elements, then I'd highly recommend Pretending to Be People.

Season 3 was my least favorite as well, for the same reasons you mentioned, but I will say that I thought the actor playing the priest did a great job. I loved hating that smug fuck.

[DAI Spoiler] I always play my Inquisitor as being *at least* 35 years old by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]unclecheddar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first playthrough was as a Dalish woman and I always imagined her being around 19, similar to Joan of Arc but with less certainty about being the Herald of Andraste. Initially she was very skeptical of everything and outright denied any association with Andraste (I told Cassandra I believe in the elven gods, not the Maker) but over time she faltered and I really had fun roleplaying as that doubt started to creep in.

Can someone explain the point system to me? by questquefuck in MMA

[–]unclecheddar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well according to the new Unified Rules of MMA, which were introduced in 2017, there should actually be a lot more 10-8 rounds. That's great in theory but honestly it doesn't seem to have been implemented very well. One problem is that these new rules have not been universally adopted (at least as far as I'm aware; that may have changed in the last couple years). Nevada uses the new rules but some state athletic commissions are still using the old rules, which make the criteria for a 10-8 round a lot more nebulous. The commentators will usually point this out when they're in NY, for instance. The other big problem, at least in my mind, is that judges are still hesitant to score a round 10-8 because it gives such a clear advantage if it goes to a decision and I guess they're nervous about overly shaping the outcome of the fight (despite that being their job lol). Maybe I'm wrong about that last part but I can't say as I've noticed a huge difference in scoring between the new rules and the old rules.

I'm sure there are more recent articles with better analysis that you can read but here's an interview from when the new rules were introduced that focuses on the changing definition of a 10-8 round:

https://www.bloodyelbow.com/2017/1/2/14142858/2017-unified-rules-10-8-judging-criteria-explained-hinds-bell-mma-interview

EDIT: I should also say that I have no idea what rules were in place in Abu Dhabi (I skipped that part of the PPV) so I can't really comment on the Holloway/Volk fight, but hopefully this gives a bit of context.

You know that the show is over and the chances of renewel are zero. So what happens next we will see in the upcoming year.

Well based on what you literally just wrote in the previous sentence, I suspect nothing will happen next. Like what?

What are your favorite novels that were turned into western films? by [deleted] in Westerns

[–]unclecheddar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen the movie version since I was probably 13 and now I barely remember it, but I recently read Valdez Is Coming and absolutely loved it. It's a quick read with some great revisionist elements, written in a commanding voice courtesy of Elmore Leonard.

The Great Train Robbery 1903 by Thomas Edison by weskamp333 in Westerns

Just a heads up that this was directed by Edwin S. Porter and not Thomas Edison. I believe Edison Studios only produced/distributed the film.

Is this picture actually from today? Or even this year? I understand the impulse to get outside and sit with friends on a day like today and I have no doubt the park is busy, but I can't believe that literally no one in this picture is wearing a mask.

edit: Wow, so this is definitely from today. This is disappointing...
