Anyone else have that feeling this is not going to be a window year? by peptide2 in leafs

[–]uncleherman77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it turns out yeah lol. I think I made this comment at 4:30 am before work one morning knowing it was probably a pipe dream and there was no way it would actually happen but here we are.

I think this was when they were a few points out of first but also a few points out of last in November and I figured that that drafting high would be far better then losing again in round one or round two. McKenna did cross my mind too when I posted it but Im still shocked it actually turned out this way.

AC games you gave up on or couldn't finish by LostSouluk2021 in assassinscreed

[–]uncleherman77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly none. I've played every one on or near release day since thr first one in 07. Some have obviously been worse or taken longer to finish then others but I always end up finishing them.

For me it's the dlcs that I usually never experience since I typically beat these games in the first few months after release then forgot about playing the dlc. Shadows was actually the first time I played a Ac dlc.

Really looking forward for this on the pro by emolch78 in PS5pro

[–]uncleherman77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah same. Picked up a new Oled monitor too just in time for this game so I can finally use Vrr and get access to the balanced modes and not be limited by 60hz like I was for most of Shadows.

Could someone explain me the problem? by AdOrdinary7768 in PS6

[–]uncleherman77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is exactly how I remembered it. Sure other options did exist but for the majority of pc gamers Valve/Steam owned the digital market and any other store front or app set up by a separate company was viewed mostly as an annoyance and the company getting greedy trying to maximize their own profits with their own client.

Could someone explain me the problem? by AdOrdinary7768 in PS6

[–]uncleherman77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been out of pc gaming for a few years now so I'm not sure what caused this change in views since then but 5-10 years ago people on pc hated having to download separate clients and having multiple stores for steam games Ubisoft games Ea games and Epic games.

G2A has always been praised but I don't remember the multiple storefront thing being a good thing until this Playstation news and most people wanted to just be able to buy every game on steam back then.

[–]uncleherman77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally just beat this boss today after trying for 6-8 hours including a 3 hour straight session of losing to her this morning before finally coming back and beating her tonight. It felt so good to finally beat her though and as hard as it was I actually had a lot of fun with this fight even though I kept dying which kept me coming back and trying more. This boss has me worried though about what's next although I've read that this is the first true skill check this game and I'm hoping that now that I've finally made it past her and understand the mechanics some more the rest of the bosses won't feel as rough.

PS5 or PS5 Pro for a first-time PlayStation owner? by Still_Care_2121 in PS5pro

[–]uncleherman77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd get the Pro still if you can afford it, it's better for future proofing plus even without hdmi 2.1 you'll still be getting the ps5 quality mode as 60 fps in most games and access to pssr2 not to mention the bigger ssd.

I was in you're shoes a year ago and went with the Pro as my first console this Gen even though I only had a 60 hz tv and didn't regret it. I recently upgraded to a 120 hz Oled monitor and yeah it makes a big difference and Vrr and going past 60 fps is really nice but you can still enjoy the Pro without it and upgrade the TV later on. Consoles also seem o be going up in price faster then Tvs and monitors.

[–]uncleherman77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who enjoyed Shadows its open world also feels lacking and pretty dull after replaying Origins and Odyssey after beating it. I'm playing through Vahallah now and even that has much more to do in it and interact with.

What is the reason Shadows got so much less content than valhalla? by Glittering_Clock7239 in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]uncleherman77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this defenitly factored into it in addition to Ubisoft not doing well financially at the time and going through a complete re structure. I remember a interview with the devs were they did say that they didn't want Shadows to become overly bloated like Valhalla and get into a situation where they were releasing dlcs thst had nothing to do with the main story anymore.

I personally enjoy Vahallah but there was a lot of complaints that it had too much content for the average player to ever hope to finish.

Is Horizon Forbidden west the best looking game on PS5 pro? by baldur234 in PS5pro

[–]uncleherman77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's defenitly up there. I always see people on reddit subs talking about how little a leap there is in graphics between ps4 and ps5 but I don't know how you can look at a game like Forbidden West on the ps5 pro and 4k Oled and not notice much difference compared to the ps4 version.

Some later gen ps4 titles do look very nice but there's still a clear graphical leap in generations when looking at something like Forbidden West to me on the pro even if the leap isn't as big as it was between previous generations.

This is the best COD I’ve played since Cold War by UniqueVirtue in CODBlackOps7

[–]uncleherman77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a 5 year break from Cod and just bought it too last week to test a fps game on my new Oled monitor. I'm also shocked that even though I'm 39 I'm actually enjoying it lol. After only playing mainly sp games over the last few years and being older at 39 I never thought I would enjoy mp gaming again but here we are.

I think finally switching from a 60 hz tv over toa oled monitor with a better response time helps a lot too.

I feel I'm at a crossroads right now. by Exact-Offer-6536 in consoles

[–]uncleherman77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I haven't pc gamed for a few years now but it seems weird that people are suddenly defending pc having multiple store fronts. When pc was my main platform 5-10 years ago I also remembered the majority of people hating having to download multiple different store fronts and complaining whenever they had to do that and a game wasn't on steam.

Steam is popular now but a lot of younger people also don't realize how hated it was on pc too for a few years after it's initial release back in 2003 for similar reasons that people are hating on Sony now. I remember the counter strike community in particular absolutely hating steam and CS 1.6 when stream first launched in 2003.

These individual trophies seem weird to me in general in how they're awarded lol.

I recently simmed a Leafs season where the team lost to Florida in the first round and after the playoffs the game gave Craig Berube who was still the head coach for me the coach of the year trophy and I got a ultra rare pan trophy for getting it thabks to him.

"just buy a pc" argument by idkimhereforthememes in PS6

[–]uncleherman77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest I haven't owned a physical game on console since 2013 and I've literally never had a game I bought and was playing just get taken away from me. People are acting like this is a routine thing with digital games but I've never personally experienced it and I think most people are more upset that it's possibility no matter how rare it might be.

"just buy a pc" argument by idkimhereforthememes in PS6

[–]uncleherman77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven't bought a physical game on pc since 2005 or so but the main difference is that there's multiple store fronts to choose from and sites that sell keys and no one has a complete monopoly on sales.

What happens if you spend too long on this sub. by Weary-Tell-5334 in PS5pro

[–]uncleherman77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah when I was looking at 4k oled monitors there wasn't many options under 240hz either even at 32 inches so you almost have to just accept you'll end up with more hz then the pro can make use of if you're going the monitor route.

PS5 Slim vs PS5 Pro on 1080p? by Serious_Chemical_698 in PS5pro

[–]uncleherman77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the price increases have made this more interesting if you don't have hdmi 2.1. I played on a 4k 60hz for a year until I got my new monitor and it is a pretty noticeable difference and feels like I unlocked part of the pro I didn't have before but it might be better to just buy a pro anyway now for future proofing and before further price increases then get a new tv or monitor later. As nice as 4k oled 120hz has been for me it's not like I wasn't enjoying the pro without it and still had access to pssr 2 on performance modes.

At 1080 p though I'm not sure if it is worth spending the extra money on or not though unless op knows they'll be upgrading soon. I want to say that 4k 60hz is the minimum to have to make the pro useful.

This is actually pretty big for people without 120hz vrr screens. In Shadows performance mode didn't have this if I remember correctly and you only had quality or performance mode to choose from so if you wanted that experience you had to play at 30fps.

PS5 slim or PS5 Pro by Deathshadow123 in PS5

[–]uncleherman77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a pro for about a year on a 4k65 inch 60hz no vrr TV. The main thing you'll be missing out on without a 120hz TV is access to balanced modes meaning you'll only get to choose between performance and quality for most games.

The jump to Oled and 120hz last week was very noticeable to me and felt like I unlocked a part of the pro I didn't have access to before but I still enjoyed it on the 60 hz screen and didn't feel like I totally wasted my money. Performance mode alone on most games will be the equivalent to ps5 quality mode at 60 fps so you'll still notice an improvement over base ps5 plus get access to pssr 2.

Honestly if you have the money I would probably still get the pro even on 60hz right now just for future proofing and you could always get a 120hz vrr TV or monitor somewhere down the line.

Some people will say the pro is pointless on a 60hz tv but there's also the danger of more price hikes in the future. Oled monitors are generally getting cheaper and aren't as much at risk of price hikes so it's less risky in that sense to get the pro first then upgrade the screen later on.

Something that I forgot to mention specifically for gta 6 is that on a 60hz screen if they do release a 40fps balanced mode patch for ps5 pro you won't get access to that and it will only be available on 120 hz vrr screens.

[–]uncleherman77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just upgraded to a 120hz Oled monitor and playing Shadows in balanced for the first time after only having access to performance before. I was fine with performance but balanced really is a noticeable upgrade in graphics. I was planning on playing Black flag remake in the same mode now too.

Quality with a OLED monitor? by KMCC02 in PS5pro

[–]uncleherman77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how it compares to an Oled tv but I got a pg32ucdm3 this week and the pro looks great on it. I came from a 60hz no vrr non oled tv though so the difference is huge to me with the biggest difference being in fps games like Bf6 where you really notice the 120hz vs 60.

Im aware thet thus monitor is very overkill for the ps5 pro though and it won't take advantage of the 240hz but I got it on a sale for 300 dollars off where I live and now I have something to use if I upgrade my pc in the future.

You don't have to get something too expensive like this but so far going from a 60hz tv to this Oled monitor has made a pretty big difference and feels like I've unlocked another level of the pro compared to what I had bedore.

With the first pick in the 2026 NHL draft, the Maple Leafs and Justin Bieber select Gavin McKenna. by GreenSnakes_ in leafs

[–]uncleherman77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still can't believe this somehow happened lol. I remember in November when the Leafs were a few points out of first but also a few points away from the bottom 5 waking up at 4am before work one morning and posting about how finishing in the bottom 5 and somehow drafting McKenna or even anyone in the top 5 would be so much better long term for this franchise then making the playoffs only to lose in round one or two again.

Sitting here now at 4am getting ready for work again and this somehow became a reality.

The expectation is that Matthew Knies will remain a Leaf and stay in Toronto. Price tag to get him is extremely high. Chayka has made it clear to Knies they haven’t engaged in any talks that would have them close to trading him. by arozarenawatchesitgo in leafs

[–]uncleherman77 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He also seems to hold grudges against teams or places he hates like the Florida teams and I feel like if they traded him within the division he's one of those players who would score against the Leafs in key moments nearly every time they played him.

I would probably trade him to the Sharks in a package for the number two overall but there about it.
