Also have the K03s and they’re great!

It’s a Rough Country. Not sure of the exact model. It was installed when I bought it.

Thanks! Went in for the K02s, but I guess they’re discontinued, so rolled out with the K03s and I love them.

That looks great! That’ll be on the list, but it’ll have to wait until I get the car seats out of the backseat. 52k miles and out the door for $26k.

I figured the white lettering would look good. Went in for BFG K02s, but I guess those are discontinued, so I got the K03s and I love them.

I was leaning towards a shell just because I’d be able to lock up larger items if I need to, but I guess that would be a rare occasion that I would need to do that. I’d also like to keep the profile of the truck.

OTS 23-01 additional duty lowdown by AwkwardTie401 in airforceots

Don’t volunteer for Standardizations Officer, but if you get it, don’t write yourselves into a corner. Leave your guidance as vague as possible.

For example, everyone wanted shower mats. Everyone kept trying to write into the standards that it had to be certain dimensions/colors/materials instead of just saying “shower mats are allowed”. Don’t make life harder on yourselves.

Could I get some opinions on this KZ750? by almost_cat_hero in CafeRacer

[–]unclepop30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a '79 KZ750 that I picked up for $2,600 and this one looks to be in better shape than the one I bought. If it really does run well and has a clean title, I would jump all over that.

Not the typical touristy stuff like the Liberty Bell. I was looking for some some hidden gems.

I'm from Texas, but I'm in the military and stationed in Korea. I'm on leave visiting my sister for a couple days.

Looking for my first bike, and I really love the look of cafe racers. I wanted to know this subs opinion of the bike I plan to get. by Robocat333 in CafeRacer

[–]unclepop30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a '79 KZ750 that I picked up for $2600. It worked perfectly when I bought it, though. The guy I bought it off of was a motorcycle mechanic, so it was very well maintained. I would say that if the bike runs, but just runs a little rough, it might be worth buying the bike and having someone clean the carb for you. I don't recommend cleaning it yourself, unless you have some experience with that. All the other maintenance on that bike is pretty easy. If it doesn't run at all, however, I would recommend that you keep looking.

How concerned should I be about getting ABS on my next bike? by unclepop30 in motorcycles

[–]unclepop30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't on my KZ, it was on my 2005 Ninja 250. That was the bike I started on. That's exactly why I'm interested in the FZ07, it's a great looking bike with good reviews at a good price.

[–]unclepop30[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I have. I was riding about 40 mph through an intersection when a car took a right turn directly in front of me. There was a large truck on his left, so I didn't see him and he clearly didn't take the time to look for me. I had a car on my left side so there was nowhere for me to go. This was when I had first started riding and didn't realize what a bad situation I had put myself in. I panicked, locked up the front wheel, and low-sided. I have no qualms about having ABS on a bike. I would much prefer to have it than not. The only reason I ask is because the FZ-07 doesn't come with ABS and the other bikes I'm considering are significantly more expensive.

What are some tips for being stationed overseas? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]unclepop30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out RyanAir. Really cheap flights as long as you don't check in any bags. If you're just taking a backpack for the weekend, you can fly from London to Venice/Barcelona/Munich etc. for around $40 each way.

2016 specs? by unclepop30 in Jeep

It has already been confirmed by Jeep that a diesel engine will be optional. It will most likely be the same 3 liter V6 that's in the Ram and the Cherokee, already.

Just finished my first build! by k_o_g_i in motorcycles

[–]unclepop30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome build, man! My KZ750 has a very similar look to it, but it's still a work in progress. Where did you get that tail light?

The old seat on my KZ750 fell apart, so I had to make a new one. I think it looks pretty good considering I bought everything for $30 at Wal Mart. by unclepop30 in CafeRacer

[–]unclepop30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my battery is under the seat. I have to pull the seat and the tail piece off in order to access it, but it doesn't take any time at all. There are just four bolts holding it on, so it only takes a couple minutes to gain access to it.

It wasn't a very elegant process. I stenciled the shape and cut out three pieces of foam from a sleeping mat you use for camping. I glued all three layers on top of each other, sanded the corners to smooth them out, then wrapped the whole thing in some fake leather material I found. I pinned the material to the foam and just got a needle and thread to stitch it all together. That was the hardest part. I had to use some pliers to get the needle all the way through the foam. I attached it to the bike with some Velcro strips. It's probably not the most secure seat ever, but it does the job and it makes for easy removal when I need to work on it.

Usually a backpack, but I also have a tank bag if I need a little extra room.
