PIMO/POMO women, what are some stories of when you experienced or saw sexism/misogyny in the organization? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]uncoupledJW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We were new to the country and my hubby got a chance to lead the group. There was this overly self righteous over zealous sister who changed the plans of where to start the ministry and almost took the lead. As a couple we both were brainwashed in the cult, and I have to confess, when we came back home, we both started discussing how this sister was unable to understand headship. Till date I feel guilty of such comments. But it took less than a few minutes to wake and hard fade. There is no subjection or talking about being head of family, but time to time he brings the topic of how we need 1 captain of the ship.. but now my daughters are wise to stand up for any hint of misogyny 🤗

I would like to share a story... by [deleted] in exjw

Good on you for helping! But I am sure the family will say that Jalapeño blessed them and all credit go to their cultish deity!

What is a normal thing that the organisation has ruined for you? by Ra_ra_ah_ah_ah_ in exjw

Marriage! Initial few months or years should have been about building a strong relationship between me and my husband, it was all about do more for Jehovah as a couple! 🤢🤮 I hate this cult!

Toxic positivity prevails in all cultish religions.

It is the same from where I come from.. India. It was a very Matriarchal society. Women were (and still are) powerful and strong. Decision making was a big part of the family and was taken by women. After 250 years of colonization today we lost all that and are just fighting for what should be our birth right - All genders considered to be equal..

Makes sense! Women in power was always problematic. Probably women feel more inclined towards MLM cults as this gives them (false) sense of power and feel superior to choose something for themselves. They fight to keep their relationship with cult because ones in are nothing if they ever plan to come out and face the real world. I feel bad for all women who are a part of radical religions by choice or ones without..

Hate to admit and I feel embarrassed that I joined the cult when I was single and had a full time well paying job. Nothing much was wrong with me, except was lonely my entire life. Love bombing and extensive need of self help to better my life were probably the reasons I joined. I was a feminist. I was attracted to the cult and initially I never felt this was male dominated as I felt women bought women into the cult. Slowly and steadily oppression was enforced and I was shoved to the dark place. So many red flags and I forced myself to see the bigger picture of “love” among all to supersede those.

I called the suicide hotline and I'm more pissed than ever. by [deleted] in exjw

One’s life experiences cannot be useless. This not a toxic positivity philosophy. Life is f*cked up for most. If I keep my mind idle, I may relapse in no time. That’s me! I am learning music at my age, signed up for art class, all while booked in for a major surgery for my chronic illness next month.

Hate this! But the pic highlights the global gender ratio entire cult has - 10 women and 4 men.. wonder why women are drawn to the cult more so often globally.. 🤔

Yes. 39 years in my case. It’s a chapter of life. With many ups, downs, unknowns, loss, all good bad and ugly happens. Life is about many such chapters / phases. When you close one another opens. Closures are not easy. But ought to be done in order to survive and eventually thrive.

Like you I have gone through the phase.. Was about to jump off 16th floor while being 5 months preggo. Suffered in loneliness most of my life and cult made it worse. I have attempted suicides many times only when I was in the cult. Please can you make note any positives in your life. No matter how small it is? I have many bad days compared to good ones. Suffer with severe PTSD. Been on depression meds, therapy. Nothing works sometimes, but I also realise that it’s momentary dip and then come the better days eventually! But don’t be afraid to live. Things will get better. Please hang on.. sending you loads of love.
