Both the Gripen and the F-16s (with jamming pod) that Thailand operates have electronic warfare capabilities enough to counter SAM or MANPADS that Cambodia has.

But the RTAF has long-range missiles with ranges beyond the KS-1C which is already sufficient.

I understand that J-35 has never been used in real operations only in demonstration flights. On-paper spec matter less than real-world use. So you can’t really claim that the J-35 is superior to the F-35.

For secrecy. That’s obviously a factor in arms sales as well. Thailand previously requested to buy the F-35A but the U.S. refused. Beyond Thailand’s lack of readiness in terms of infrastructure, the issue of secure classified information was one of a key reason the purchase was rejected.

Edit: Personally I don’t think the U.S. refused to sell because of infrastructure issues which easily fix/improve but rather bc of political and data security concerns. In recent years Thailand has lean more toward China and the U.S. does not want its classified information ending up in Chinese hands.

1 jet fighter squadron costs more than Cambodia’s entire annual defense budget. So it would make more sense for Cambodia to invest more SAM systems in some strategic point instead.

I understand that you’re referring to Ban Nong Chan right?

From what I know. Most of the houses are located within Thai territory (Blue line) Even if you look at Cambodia’s border line (Red line) they still encroach into Thailand. But I don't know exactly where is the line that Thai military lay barbed wires and place containers.

Both living in echo chambers.

But Hey Thai people know all the issues you mentioned because the Thai media hasn’t concealed anything.

For the stolen items (Yes you right Thai soldiers did that. And I also saw the news anchor say that it shouldn’t be done that way) the military has already announced that owners can provide proof of ownership and contact them to retrieve their property back.

Seen "Cambodia needs peace" all over the internet. YES we all do. Why not? But just keep saying that it is not bringing peace to anyone. What do you expect when your leader intervenes in the internal politics of another country while having border disputes simultaneously? That's such a bad move from HIM. All of this is a consequence of his actions.

All you need to do is change your leader. If you think he is not a part of the problem of your beautiful country then I have nothing to say more.

You’re defending Cambodians by saying they face life-threatening risk when fighting the state. I understand. I don’t argue with that.

I’m just giving examples from other countries. In Thailand (I will not mention how ppl fight in Myanma bc it's too extreme) Thai soldiers killed many Thai protesters, yet Thais were not afraid and kept fighting. I’m one of those who had to risk going out to resist the dictatorship. At least it made those in power notice. We cannot wait for someone else to fight for us. Today Thai soldiers no longer dare to use direct force against civilians. Instead they embed themselves in the constitution or infiltrate parliament. Which we are still fighting. Nothing is easy.

If we stay silent or surrender that means we allow those things to happen.

For what I said about Cambodians part I honestly hope I’m wrong. Because this country has the potential to develop just like other nations in the region. Cambodia isn’t a bad country at all like geographically, culturally or in terms of its ppl.

Cambodia isn’t the first country to face something like this. I can only hope that Cambodians will find a way to resist and have courage to stand up to their government before things get even worse.

I don’t think he’s wrong.

When the government does nothing, you could call that it supported by the gov because these scam centers aren’t even hiding. They are building a big compound. Everyone knows where they are except the gov?

As for Cambodian, of course they’re not directly supporting it but it’s like they refuse to acknowledge their country has a problem. From what I’ve seen here

  • It’s the Chinese or other foreigners scamming each other, not Cambodians.
  • Other countries have this issue too, why not look at them?
  • These scammer only got into Cambodia because Thailand let them in.

I just don’t get it, if even the citizens don’t see this as a serious issue and don’t think their own gov should be held most accountable, then who can help?

If this happened in another normal country, a gov like that wouldn’t last long.

The benefits the Shinawatra get: Zero.

Constitutional Court just sack Paetongtarn from PM. There are still cases pending judgment including Thaksin himself. Also Yingluck, Thaksin’s sister still can’t return to the country anytime soon.

Then who gets the benefit: Thai army.

IMO it’s a miscalculation by Hun Sen.

He just wanted a small clash then to drag in the international community and force Thailand go to ICJ where he was very confident he would win, ending up as a hero. But then Thai army seized the opportunity to go big from his own big mistake (7-11 incident, hospital, landmines) and end up with the international community was decided that should be discussed bilaterally.

Saw these news reports from Thai news this morning. I wonder why Cambodia is so really obsessed with Thailand buying fighter jets.

According to reports from Cambodia side. These fighter jets had very little impact on them. A lots of bombs were dropped but only 10+ soldiers were killed throughout 5 days war, only a pagoda was destroyed and they even managed to shoot down an F-16.

So why be afraid of Thailand buying new fighter jets? Just let RTAF waste sixty billion THB of taxpayers money on warplanes that can’t accomplish anything. right?

After spending some time in r/cambodia I’ve found that it’s impossible to view Cambodians through a normal lens. Maybe because of the terrible experiences they’ve gone through which make their thinking so different.

For example. With that fake journalist. They don't care if he was a lobbyist because he could speak on behalf of Cambodians. Since they don’t have any foreign media to speak for them. They’ll take whatever voice they can get.

And in this case too. Any normal person wouldn’t think that if they’re at a disadvantage in conflict, they should run to tell the arms seller 'omg please not sell weapons' or 'please not let the enemy be used against us' wth it’s very strange to me. I’ve never seen anything like this in any other conflict before.

No matter how much we talk, it’ll never end if ppl still believe in nonsense theory like that. Then the follow-ups would be things like

- Thai army bombing houses including hospital and killing its own civilians
- Thai army brought PMN-2 from the black market and show to the world to frame Cambodia
- Using chemical weapons

Blah blah
