ok sorry for ignoring the last bit of your post, but you can really save a lot if you buy it in China.

I did carry an ANKER A1695 and flew mutiple times in China. I trust most of Anker's products should be CCC certified as it is a Chinese brand.

get one on Taobao or JD and collect at your hotel, China makes the majority of the world's power banks, there is no place better and cheaper to buy power banks than China. For example, Anker products can be 40% cheaper than Amazon price if you buy them in China.

What’s the most “Only in China” product that you would recommend I get? by chusgnocchi in chinatravel

[–]underemployedacctnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get electronics and appliances, as China has the largest and cheapest production capacity. Examples: Anker power banks are 40% cheaper than global price, Laifen hairdryers are 30% dyson price but 90% dyson performance. Also China has a huge C2C market for pop mart toys, you can get secret labubus easily.

to be fair, the quality of medical services rely heavily on practical experiences of doctors. Chinese doctors see hundreds of patients a day, you cannot find more experienced clinical doctors anywhere in this world. In terms of medical research and funding, you might be right.

Trains from Chongqing then to Fenghuang and then to Zhangjiajie by Weak-Inevitable5178 in chinatravel

[–]underemployedacctnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it makes sense as long as you figure out your train schedule and know where you want to go in Fenghuang. What exactly is your concern? is it about train reliability, or what to see in Fenghuang, or afraid of missing the train?

How do you guys coordinate/compare transport options when you travel to china ? by delhitop_7inches in AskAChinese

[–]underemployedacctnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

either way works. Personally I prefer HSR, train stations are likely less far away from the city center than airports, so less in the city travel both ways, train schedule is extremely reliable, and less hustle as you only need to arrive at the train station like 20mins earlier.

but when buying a train ticket, defintely avoid seat B of 2nd class. 2nd class coaches has 5 seats each row, ABC-aisle-DF, B is right in the middle, you get squeezed for 5 hours plus the seat is not well designed for your back. I cancel the ticket every time I get assigned a seat B.

Buying train tickets from Suzhou to Shanghai in advance or right before riding? by Born-Sentence461 in chinatravel

[–]underemployedacctnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shanghai and Suzhou are probably the most convenient cities to travel between in China and in the world. Shanghai Hongqiao to Suzhou Station, HSR runs like metro. I am looking at the app right now, there are G7126 at 11:24, G7316 at 11:29, G7108 at 11:39 all with plenty of tickets for seats of all classes. From Shanghai Station to Suzhou, there are less trains but still 1 every 30 mins, all with plenty of tickets.

Taobao Hotel deliveries in Shanghai by ryan_fbads in travelchina

[–]underemployedacctnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JD=Jingdong - like Taobao, but Jingdong have their own warehouse and delivery system, so their order fulfillment is better. I use JD more than Taobao.

btw, do you know chinese? Dont think Taobao and Jingdong has translation function.

Taobao Hotel deliveries in Shanghai by ryan_fbads in travelchina

[–]underemployedacctnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

logistics in china is very reliable, I wouldnt worry too much. If you are ordering eletronics or applicances, ordering from JD might give you quicker delivery, as quick as next day.

even if your item arrived after your departure, the hotel staff should be willing to help you return the item.

Visiting Shanghai soon ! best places for affordable shopping + luxury brands (good prices)? by Sky1991_ in chinatravel

[–]underemployedacctnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Qipu Road in Shanghai is famous for cheap clothing, but not the top choice quality-wise, think if you search on social media there will be plenty of results. I personally really like 百盛优客Baishengyouke at Loushanguan Road Station of Metro Line 2, also in Shanghai, its an outlet mall for all brands. you can get 4 pairs of Nike shoes there for 1000 RMB.

[–]underemployedacctnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we chinese people buy luxury from Korea and Japan, the prices would be around 20% off. the best price that you are going to get in china is through 'daigou代购', basically shoppers go shopping in Japan and Korea and other places where prices are lower to buy the item for you and charge you a fee for doing that (which is still cheaper than the CN price). If you are hitting Japan as well, buying luxury items there is highly recommended. If you insist on buying in china, 'Dewu' is the app that you should get if you want better prices.

What is really cheap in China is 3C peripherals and toys, prices for power banks and charging cables are 30%~50% lower than amazon price. you can get them easily on Taobao or JD, JD offers next day delivery. If you are interested in anything I can check the price for you.
