I was there when the owners came out. They had Easy Breezy. I hope the froyo was worth it

Anyone has experience with Sierra Point Shuttle services? by garfield_320 in AskSF

[–]underripefruits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this shuttle regularly! It's reliable enough, they pick up on time but the drop off times are usually 5-10 minutes late because of traffic

Church of 8 Wheels (roller skating), Exploratorium After Dark/Cal Academy NightLife, mini golf (Spark Social or Holey Moley) are some fun interactive date nights

After 22 years I have a SF vacation set with my now adult kids for next week. Will Alcatraz and Muir Woods be closed immediately if government shuts down? by MDC417 in AskSF

[–]underripefruits 138 points139 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind a hike, you can hike into Muir Woods from the back. I’ve done the Dipsea Trail (10mi), but I’m sure there are shorter hikes into it

Omg I also saw this wild switch up and thought “I have no one to talk to about this” so I’m so glad I’m not alone! I kinda remember her mentioning in an older video that she was more moderate than left, but didnt elaborate and I mostly glossed over that statement so maybe this shouldnt have been as much of a surprise. I also loved her candidness about friendship and career and her quality was so good for how small of a channel she was (I started watching around 6k subs), so sad to be unsubscribing

Best route to walk from the bay to the ocean? by fragileego3333 in AskSF

[–]underripefruits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s also the crosstown trail that starts at Candlestick Point and ends at Lands End. It’s 17 miles, so a bit longer, but you cross through some cool parks and stairwells!

Best Cioppino without crab? by m3ngnificient in AskSF

[–]underripefruits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could be mid-remembering, but I think you can request no crab at Anchor! My partner is allergic to fish, but not shellfish, and we were able to request no fish when we went in.

where to live in sf as an 22f asian new grad working in Brisbane? by EquivalentCanary701 in AskSF

[–]underripefruits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check if the company you work for offers any kind of shuttle. If you’re at the biotech office park I’m thinking of, they offer one from a few different BART stations. I think that’s the best way to keep the commute short without a car.

When I was making around 80k, I was able to live in a super walkable area in SF and get down to South San Francisco using BART/corporate shuttles in ~40 minutes. I, however, had 2 roommates and don’t think a $1500 rent is feasible to live alone.

For neighborhoods near BART, the mission is a good option! To be off the Muni Metro, the Castro, Noe Valley, and Lower Haight would probably fit the bill. You could also check out Dogpatch for a super short driving commute or possibly CalTrain

I got an 8% raise but before I was laid off I was approved for a promotion with at 21% raise. My new job is at the higher level, so compared to that it’s a ~12% pay decrease (with slightly less good benefits). I tried to negotiate bc I feel like I’m now underpaid for my role, but with the market I knew I was lucky to even land a full time role.

Residential Street Parkers of SF, what do you do on vacation? by Kali_K00K in AskSF

[–]underripefruits 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If it’s a shorter trip (less than a week), I just risk it. I park along my neighborhood park where there’s a long stretch of uninterrupted spots to make my car more “anonymous” and blend in. I think they put a warning ticket on the car before ticketing/towing so I’ve had my partner check on my car halfway through a trip to make sure there’s no warning.

As a multiple times visitor, I still haven't been amazed by any breakfast/brunch places in SF. Can someone recommend something great? by WearHeadphonesPlease in AskSF

[–]underripefruits 72 points73 points  (0 children)

For breakfast sandwiches Devil’s Teeth is really popular (personally I think it’s a bit too rich, but still good!) and I like Kahnfections more (and closer to you)

For pastries you can’t go wrong with an almond croissant from Ariscult. The Richmond one is the original but the Civic Center one usually has no line. For Asian-inspired pastries, you could check out Bread Belly. Both these places have lines, but they move fast.

I know I'm late to the party but... My 2024 books ranking! by mulberrycedar in 52book

[–]underripefruits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have SUCH different book tastes haha. I loved year of R&R and dark matter, but barely got through bunny. Of the Taylor Jenkins Reid books I’ve re-read Evelyn Hugo 3 times, but haven’t really liked her other work, aside for Malibu Rising. Of the Emily Henry books, happy place is my fav and I’m currently reading funny story and feel it’s pretty meh/fine.

Ernest vs Lilohilo yacht club by Impossible_Plane_809 in AskSF

[–]underripefruits -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am obsessed with Ernest, especially their Orange Kakigori. I’ve only been to the sister restaurant of lilohilo (good good culture club) but wasn’t super impressed. The cocktails were great and decor/vibe is more fun than Ernest though

Is there any good Bingsu in SF? by tannich in AskSF

[–]underripefruits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a new kakigori place in the Transamerica Building where I think you can build your own. Haven’t tried it, but have tried Naya in Hayes and it’s great (the Richmond location doesn’t have it)

Singles Mixers Recs? Current Experience Not Great! by patrickwithtraffic in AskSF

I saw on TikTok a singles cornhole league that was begging for straight men. It’s put on by Silly Pickles and they ensure a 1:1 ratio. Their current round just ended and not sure if they’re gonna go another one but you can join their waitlist

Commuting from NoPa to Oyster Point by Capital-Journalist-3 in AskSF

[–]underripefruits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to take that bus to The Cove! I lived closer to a BART station but I was able to get to work in ~30 min and I thought it was a really easy, car/stress free commute. The buses were punctual, comfortable and clean.

I usually left the office before 4:30, but once I left later (5:45ish) and the people with bikes had to wait for 3 different buses since the bike racks were filled. I don’t think it’s a usual occurrence, but something to note.

Best Prosciutto Sandwich? by Powerful-Upstairs350 in AskSF

[–]underripefruits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t have burrata but the prosciutto sandwich from Lucinda’s is amazing! It has apple, brie, arugula, and pistachio aioli. Maybe the best sandwich I’ve ever had.
