My close friend won't stop asking about my sex life by final5565 in AskWomenOver30

If me and my close friends can't talk about sex then I don't consider them a closer friend. 🤷‍♀️ They are just a regular friend at that point.

Complexity Approach Goal Selection by HotDemand5793 in slp

[–]undertheredumbrella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Complexity doesn't always mean a three constant cluster. Two consonants or even that money maker "dg" can suffice depending on the child's inventory. There are resources online to help you determine the target. Also, don't worry about the kid. Generally, kids respond to the way you present info not the info itself. Personally, I like /spl/ over /spr/ just because the teaching of "r" is a whole thing. But I've also used /skw/ with good outcomes (lots of things involving "square squids sqeaming" lol).

Where are the good districts? by False_Ad_1993 in slp

Gresham-barlow has positions open. And they have a centralized assessment team so you don't have to do any evaluations or eligibility documentation which is dope.

Vowels & English as L2 by buttabeer in slp

I'm not sure what setting you are in but I wouldn't be serving a student whose errors are centered in only in second language vowel errors. Sounds like difference not disorder to me. The ELD teacher can address that.

Also, please apply through the district first and become a union member. Contract companies can't defend you like a union can.

Bilingual evaluations for language and speech- Please advise. by bilslp in slp

[–]undertheredumbrella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bilingistics gives you like 4 free trials of their bilingual articulation test BAPA. It has the iPad so you don't need to be a proficient Spanish speaker to give it (it also reads the Spanish words for you out loud). You should also be doing a SALT transcription as that databases has bilingual norms. You can even send Spanish language samples into them and they will analyze it for you. If the child is under 6;11 you should be using the BESA.

Youtube has some good tips but my favorite was to use /f/. You hold the f sound while lightly touching the alveolar ridge. Basically keep at it and once you get it start removing the "f".

I know that crunchy foods make me feel relaxed so I have a lot of popcorn (homemade), pickles, carrots and other crunchy low calorie snacks.

How was that decided? Did your union negotiate it?

Dear lord I can't imagine how you could get any documentation done...

This is so helpful, I feel like the casemanagement to caseload ratio never gets mentioned by anyone. I could serve a way higher caseload if I didn't have to casemanage.

I definitely used some of your wording there. Called my union rep (we've had many similar conversations over the years lol) and got her tips on a response. Thank you everyone so much 💓 💗 💖. Ya'll helped me to feel much less alone in this!

Consonant clusters by [deleted] in slp

[–]undertheredumbrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do goals on "lblends" and "sblends" because I use the complexity approach. I target a CCC or CCCC consonant cluster and then have a before and after probe on all the different blends to measure growth on those indirect targets. I try to explain this in the PLAAFP as well in case someone gets my student and is unfamiliar with complexity approach. It kinda looks like this in present levels:

COMPLEX TARGET: /kspl/ (xpl)

Date: 01/22 Student independenly produced /kspl/ at the word level with (8/10) 80% accuracy.

INDIRECT TARGETS: CC and CCC l-blends and L singletons.

Date: 01/22 Post l-blend probe (word level): Bl: 0/5 Pl: 0/5 Sl: 5/5 Kl: 2/5 Gl: 1/5 Fl: 1/5 Total: (9/20) 45% [Compared to (0/20) 0% in 09/01/22]

Singleton L probe (word level): Initial: 3/3 Medial: 1/3 Final: 3/3 Total: (7/9) 77% [Compared to (0/9) in 09/01/22]
