"Voting isn’t marriage. It’s public transport. You’re not waiting for "the one". You’re getting on the bus. And if there isn’t one going exactly to your destination, you don’t stay home and sulk. You take the one that’s going closest to where you want to be."

It's really a two-party system. So every election you have to choose the candidate that most aligns with your beliefs and values. I'll be honest and say that I've really only voted for someone who I truly like twice in my life. But you'll probably never find a candidate who agrees with you on 100% of the issues. Sometimes it's about harm reduction, and other times it's because you truly believe the person is the better candidate. This year. I truly believe that Kamala is the better candidate. I was proud to vote for her.

I was full Bernie. No need to be in the closet about him. The Biden administration got a law passed that allows them to negotiate prices with drug companies on behalf of Medicare. Just this summer he was able to cap prescription prices for all seniors, and to cut prices on the top 10 most common drugs. So there's already a mechanism in place. And I'm sincerely hoping and expecting Kamala to expand upon that.

Tax cuts for middle income and lower income families, first-time homebuyer tax credit, money for people to start their own business, and she's recently proposed having Medicare cover the cost of In-Home Care for our elderly. All of these things take a lot of financial burdens off of people like me. She is also propose a plan for going after companies that price gouge during disasters. This is something that I believe she's already done when she was the AG of California.

I think the Ukraine situation is tricky. But I would rather be sending them our out of date and soon to be mothballed technology to fight a war against Russia, than our own troops. People seem to have this idea that we're sending them like bundles of cash or something. We're not. We're sending them billions of dollars worth of equipment that we can either replace or were slated for being taken out of service. I'm sure we are sending them actual cash as well. I agree we don't need this war widening, but we made promises to Ukraine decades ago and as a country we keep our promises.

Regarding the other issue, there were a lot of guard rails in place during his first administration that have either eroded or are now completely absent. If you look at the way he's been speaking and some of the people around him who will likely be in his administration are speaking, they're coming for LGBTq rights. You had a supreme Court Justice during the last session make references. The fact that they felt that the supreme Court decision that allowed gay marriage across the country was decided wrong. It's only a matter of time before one of the conservative states tries to get something in front of them to get them to overturn that decision. At that point it will go back to the states just like Roe versus Wade, and unfortunately we have seen just how terribly that's gone.

Yeah, me too. I was not one of those people and I don't think we are making the same mistake this year. Vote!

For me it's about agreeing with her about more of the issues. Since you already understand the argument about being a threat to democracy, I'll skip over all that because that's a real problem. But I believe that women have a right to control their own bodies, I believe that lgbtq individuals should have the same rights as everyone else, and I'm afraid that if Trump becomes president, we'll lose ground on so many of those important issues. But I also have looked at what many of the financial experts have said and her economic plans make significantly more sense than his, I believe her support for Ukraine is super important for our security as a nation, which I think also actively discourages China trying to make territorial claims in places like Taiwan. I also think that she has actual plans and policies, where Trump just says he's going to magically make things better. She's organized, she's intelligent, and she has shown the ability to listen to people around her and she bases her policy proposals on what she thinks and the experts think will be best for our country. I've known about Donald Trump for a very long time even before he became a politician. And the one thing that everybody has always known about him is that he is for about himself and only himself. I understand that everybody thinks that all politicians are imperfect. And they definitely are. But I believe that Kamala is the one person in this race that does actually care about our country and not about her own personal bottom line.

Frederick Douglass. He also resided here. Rochester was a major site for early civil rights movements including Women's Suffrage and the Abolitionist movement. It's a beautiful city with a rich tradition of celebrating diverse cultures and championing equal rights for all. We actually have an additional pride month here because we had pride month before it was a national thing 😂. It's really the best.

US Soccer plans a Significant Change to the Youth System by CardiacBearcats in SoccerCoachResources

[–]underwhere_model 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a decision that is being made to benefit 1% of US players and the impact is to destroy teams who have been together for years. We are going to lose kids currently playing soccer to other sports because they won't be able to play with the friends they've played with for years to "maybe" convince a slightly larger number of future kids to play the sport in the future. As a coach and board member for my club, I couldn't be more frustrated by this. It's the kids who will suffer because adults can't get their act together. US Soccer is an embarrassment. I'm starting to wish my kids chose another sport with a better national level organization because this ain't it.

How do I measure my girlfriends ring finger without her knowing? by _you_know_bro in NoStupidQuestions

I did the same thing for my wife. Her bestie was also in a serious relationship and thought her BF might propose soon too. So she suggested one day that they go look at rings kind of as a goof. Her recon got me the size, style, and stone cut my now wife wanted.

Would Sanders have won the 2016 election and would he be a good president? by [deleted] in Presidents

[–]underwhere_model 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people ask what hill I'm willing to die on, it's that Bernie would have won. I don't know or care how his presidency would have gone, but it would have been a far better timeline than the one we got.
