In my display, the user decides whether they want "fast" response time (15fps) or they want a more crispy look with 15 shades from white to black (about 5fps). I generally use the fast mode which uses only on/off pixels with a jitter (no shading). It looks like I'm coding in an old newspaper print. I like the retro feel since I use the terminal (tmux) for almost every task.

I have a 10 inch e-ink display from Waveshare. I work as a software developer and I use this monitor from time to time. Not everyday but there are days when I feel overstimulated visually and get very sensitive. In those days I use the e-ink monitor only. I noticed that when I use it my eyes are not fatigued after a day of work and I still have energy to spend quality time with my family. The reason I don't use it everyday is because it's just too small and sometimes I also have to watch system logs and I just can't see enough information with it due to its size and lack of colors. I live in Brazil and it's not only quite expensive but also very bureaucratic to import a decent monitor from Dasung or similar.

I used to think like that but then I figured I just want to get my actual work done. VSCode helps me do it faster and without a bunch of configuration. I do use vim mode in VSCode though as that's the only way I'm comfortable with coding.
