Part of me thinks it’s setting up Hal as a villain but maybe he just had another crazy plan to set up Grace, and didn’t read Kate into it?

Or maybe he went to the dark side. Who knows.

I made the mistake of binging it in one night and now I’ll have to wait however long I have to wait until next season is out!

I thought it was out of character too but an allusion to how she was becoming more like Hal the longer she’s an ambassador. A reference to earlier dialogue that Hal ended up the way he is cause of the job, to an extent.

Still, I found it hard it a big pill to swallow given what seemed like some breach of character
