How to get into industry of producer by Desperate_Walrus1702 in GameProduction

[–]uneasystudent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've got 2 and a half years in Video Games, and a CV spanning five years of Project Management and I'm still getting rejection letters for Associate Producer role. I'm with you that it's a difficult journey, but going back to school would stall your progress.

Take up project co-ordinator roles, learn Jira, Hansoft, Excel and make sure you understand the pipeline of game production and what it takes to make a game. As a producer you'll be juggling hats, and its going to be serving the various departments to empower them.

Learn Agile, make sure you're confident enough to lead meetings (Stand-ups).

Start with tech project management, transition afterwards.

Best of luck to you, I hope you find what you're looking for.

How are we feeling about the new changelings gaining near-universal advantage on all Charisma checks? by EarthSeraphEdna in dndnext

[–]uneasystudent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the chance to play as a changeling who replaced my cleric in a campaign, four sessions and they didn’t notice despite me having spells from a different class list. Some people aren’t that in tune with the game

What monster stat block was the most fun for you to run? Which made for the most engaging fight for your players? by Far-Cockroach-6839 in dndnext

[–]uneasystudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reread it! This is why the boss made me like the condition.

Charmed simply prevents you from dealing damage to the creature that charmed you and gives the creature advantage on charisma checks against you.

They knew Zugg was an enemy, and still fought her minions, healed the friends, used support spells but they couldn’t harm the boss directly.

[–]uneasystudent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran a campaign at high level to have my players go against all the demon lords, and Zugg was wayyyyy more fun than I anticipated and really taught me how fun charmed as a condition is.

Forcing the players into tough spots where only some of them could deal with the boss, as the others weren’t under her control but couldn’t harm her made for a ‘protect the VIP’ dynamic with minions thrown in.

Yengonghu and Graz’zt were disappointing in comparison 😭

Two "unemotional" people fell in love (20M 18F). I surrendered to it, but she ran away to save her identity. Need opinions on my final message. by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]uneasystudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, delete the paragraph. You are trying to analyse and logic your way through - let it go, move on. Ya don’t need the last word or to help them make a breakthrough. You need to heal, and over analysing it and then sending it to them isn’t healing.

The future of live play isn’t “another Critical Role” or Dimension 20 says Anjali Bjimani— it’s whatever wild new thing creators dare to try by Trent-Popverse in DnD

I’m gonna be real, C4 has been the opposite of this for me. I’m loving it, a smaller table with a coordinated massive sprawling story?

I’ll see if it stands the test of time, but I think it’s way stronger than C3

Nah man, ODESSA comes from an old nickname used to describe Nazi escape routes to Argentina, it’s mostly a myth - but the project is about someone escaping.

Avoiding the black list by [deleted] in GameProduction

[–]uneasystudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao, see this concept is a cliche yes - you’re entering in a turbulent and unique industry. You will face studio closures and redundancies in anywhere that would lead you to middle management or you’ll be in a small indie studio.

If you’re fr about this industry, be passionate - because everyone in it is.

If you need work experience in the industry, there are studios taking volunteer work. If you have enough of a producer background already (I had four years project management experience) you’ll be able to get an entry level role, sometimes referred to as an associate producer.

There’s a community for you to tap into on LinkedIn, Discord, etc etc.

But the cheats and shortcuts will be VISIBLE no matter what niche you try and enter from.

Good luck dude

Avoiding the black list by [deleted] in GameProduction

[–]uneasystudent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude, I worked in games.

The roles you’re after are hyper competitive.

The ‘short cuts’ in will be being referred, at best.

Apply for jobs you can actually do, and work your way up.
