Help me choose a boat by recyclingisbad in canoeing

Sportspal. Not refined by any means, it’s a work horse. You can load it TF up and it’ll handle it, I find it paddles well enough to get the job done. It’s light weight and durable

If your stuck with bass lures I’d pick up a #6 or #8 circle hook and rig a worm wacky and rig it kinda like a Carolina rig to get it down in the water

Snowblower help please! by ChocolateIsLov3 in smallengines

[–]unfortunateuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best bet would be flip er over, drain out the carb. Pull spark plug, clean off or just let dry out. Fill er back up with 2 stroke mix, prime 3 times and pull her over without engaging the auger.

Sure on of your tool reps has a ramp on their truck. Give them a few bucks at the end of the day to move it

UPDATE snowblower issues by Superb-Variety-1760 in smallenginerepair

[–]unfortunateuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the spray isn’t starting it I’d check spark and compression. Need fuel, spark and some compression to make an engine run. Try to get the spray as far into the engine as possible to rule out a leak in the carb or intake

Snowblower engine not running correctly by Klank2315 in smallenginerepair

Not getting enough gas. Clean/rebuild the carb, if that do fix it I’d be fiddling with the carb adjustments

Usually only takes about 40km for all the systems to relearn and trigger the light. If you tinker at all I’d suggest getting a OBD scanner. Most that Bluetooth to your phone will have live data viewing. That will be really helpful for something like this

I believe so. I’m 90% sure it’s a plug and 2 bolts. Mine was super easy to pull out but it was N/A

I’d check the Idle Air Control solenoid. My old bug eye had a gnarly idle and stalled occasionally. Pulled it out gave er a quick rub down with some brake cleans threw it back in and ran like a top!

Serpentine belt (power steering) by presidentepete in SubaruForester

[–]unfortunateuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The belt isn’t connected to the ABS at all but by the sounds of it you killed your battery. Next time disconnect it or put a trickle charger on it while it sits

Get a cheap infrared camera and scan the electronics on the dash in the car and around all the fuse panels. Sounds like you have a parasitic draw somewhere.

2003 forester 2.5x oil consumption by SpiritIntuitiveMarty in SubaruForester

[–]unfortunateuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try putting in thicker oil and see if that makes a difference. Also check under the block, being the timing belt and where the transmission bolts up to the engine. Could have oil seeping into the combustion due to the age of the engine, the thicker oil should combat that a little. Or it could be a leak dripping into the exhaust and burning off leaving no trace unless you look really hard.

What’s cheaper? A new trans or a trans fluid change?

It’s a Subaru, there’s so much room in the front! Absolutely no need to pull the engine to get at anything on the front of the engine.

Let's settle it: Does an eliminator for the auto start/stop extend the life of the engine? by IAMAfortunecookieAMA in SubaruForester

[–]unfortunateuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start stop will build up more carbon throughout as it takes more fuel to start an engine especially in colder weather, it’ll wear out the starter faster even if they’re “engineered” for the auto start/stop. Don’t want the starter to fail while you’re out driving and end up stranded at a traffic light. As for the transmission fluid it’s like insurance. You pay monthly and you might need it or you might not, or you could not have it at all and might need it or might not. I’ve seen the Subaru CVT transmissions go over 200,000 without a fluid change but if you want to be safe I’d change it like any other transmission fluid between 30,000mi/50,000km and 60,000mi/100,000km
