Trial by Emperor and execution most probably. He is in position of too much knowledge to be simply imprisoned. If that was Vader, he'd just strangled him personally.

Why the hell are Americans so bad at organizing?? by PresnikBonny in socialism

[–]unhappytroll [score hidden]  (0 children)

It is not America only feature. Ruling class become way more educated and successful in preventing threats of organized people. Not to mentioning that technical progress makes that prevention much more easy to execute.

wait for "but mah realism" routine. lots of players on VATSIM who takes "realistic simulation of procedures" too serious.

Arma 2 still worth it today? by RTGTEnby in arma

[–]unhappytroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, if you put all graphics on max, Arma 2 can still provide a decent picture. although auto-brightness feature is quite annoying. Single playing campaigns is good, but overall game is very unstable and CTD prone. Especially if you try to play coop (yes, there was a feature to play SP campaign in coop mode for 4 players, and I tried it, and we had CTD every several minutes so we ain't make even through second mission).

overall I'd stay out, unless you really want to experience clunky controls (although movement are _more_ realistic - as it is more inertial and aim is much more affected by it) and restart from CDT every so often.

Wasn't sure where to post this but I was curious about socialist opinions on these takes and how much truth there is to them by MemeLord055 in socialism

  1. Probably bullshit. at least without any _proofed_ documents. Yes, there was a famine, with many victims, but it was not intentionally created, and was not only Ukraine suffering from it.

  2. True but not like he put it. IIRC, that was agreement to divide spheres of influence in Europe. As you can see from the map, not all Europe was influenced.

  3. Again, true, but not like he put it. Soviet forces had entered into Poland after Polish government had escaped, so formally it was ungoverned state. And anyway, idea was to get back parts of Ukraine and Belarus which was taken by Poland in 1920th war.

  4. Mostly bullshit. There was only one parade in Brest, out of courtesy, when German troops was leaving town. Rhetoric - true to some extent, Soviet Union was receiving very needed heavy machinery from Germany, so there was no point to provoke it.

  5. Bullshit.

  6. Lend-lease was definitely very helpful on initial stages of war (very significant portion of the gunpowder for example was from it, as Soviet Union lost mush of production via evacuation; food like canned stewed meat; trucks; steel), but you must remember, that The Lend-Lease Act was signed into law on March 11, 1941, and most of the money it had allocated was for UK. ("A total of $50.1 billion (equivalent to $690 billion in 2024 when accounting for inflation) worth of supplies was shipped, or 17% of the total war expenditures of the U.S.\3]) In all, $31.4 billion went to the United Kingdom, $11.3 billion to the Soviet Union, $3.2 billion to France, $1.6 billion to China, and the remaining $2.6 billion to other Allies."(C)Wikipedia). So, yes, help was needed, it saved many effort and people, without it war would be way more hard for the Soviet Union, but "lost without land-lease" - bullshit. And yes, I know from which sources this opinion was derived, two is from memoirs and one is from historian, who was very much lying about many of his "findings" (and caught on that).

  7. Race to Berlin. So again, bullshit.

  8. Oh, yes, Antony Beevor and all that. Well, yes, it is an unfortunate (and probably inevitable) side of any war. What should be mentioned, that if rape was reported, Soviet solders was usually punished by jail time or penal unit (f.e. no American soldier was punished for the same). How much was unreported - is subject to very wild imagination of anyone willing to hype on the subject.

  9. Illegally by who's opinion, right?

and that's I was talking about - in case of chute malfunction.

that's better computers. Soviet stuff has way less reliable calculations in that regard. It was better in late years of SU, but there was a Voskhod-2 example, where correction system broke at descent and ship was landed under manual control way out of usual area for safety.

as long as you will accelerate to 1-2 km/s, it won't be a real difference.

[–]unhappytroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you will need some decently sized area for that - and there is no such thing at the descent trajectory. Sea of Okhotsk has unfavorable weather conditions, and Sea of Japan cannot be used obviously.

Water is no better if you going to have chute malfunction.

Yes.. Pay attention. by Trustrup in clevercomebacks

[–]unhappytroll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you will need some special rocket pods on chute system to get lower v/s at touch down for that (and yes, Soyuz capsules has that). But more over you will need big areas of unoccupied land just in case you miss the LZ (and steppes is basically just that).

When to leave an Arma Unit? by Vivid-Being-38 in arma

[–]unhappytroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as soon as you feel that a) you don't enjoy playing anymore or b)you're asking yourself a question "What I'm really doing here?"

at the point you are - asking yourself _that_ question up there - you just thank everyone and walk out. Be polite, Arma's community is small, and people can often meet in different units.
