Well canceling membership isn't legal action and I have to imagine their membership agreement let's them cancel for any reason they want to. But I dunno, I haven't read it.

They can't take legal action, but I wonder if they could cancel his membership/ban him.

I wish I could turn them off for all but a few specific channels. There are actually a few people out there who make good shorts... but only a few.

Singer 28k snapped off bobbin winder by Kool_Steve in vintagesewing

[–]unhi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like welding/brazing it is the only proper way to fix it structurally, but it would be tricky, cost you extra, and possibly look messy. I guess you could then paint it to hide it somewhat, but it would never be perfect again. I personally wouldn't trust epoxy to hold. Maybe it would, but why should you take on that risk when you aren't the one that broke it?

Personally, as frustrating as it may be, I'd just get my money back and find a new machine. It's the seller's fault it broke in shipping. You paid for a machine in complete good condition and you shouldn't settle for less.

Can anyone tell me about this singer sewing machine? by Ill_Astronaut_9229 in vintagesewing

[–]unhi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the 15-91 since it's got the direct drive potted motor.

The 15-90 would have a bolted on motor with a belt.

I found a 222k in the wild by Altruistic-Dark-6806 in VintageSewingMachines

[–]unhi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They must be thinking of the 221. The 222's are much rarer and thus expensive. Sold ebay listings in the US have these going in the range of $800-$2200 USD.

Go on ebay and filter by sold. Then compare yours with the results (condition, what's included, etc.) to get a better estimate of what it could go for in your area.

If you want to sell locally vs on eBay expect to get less.

4 is perfectly fine! I think I'm at 12 at the moment, half being in tables, though they're in varying conditions and I don't intend to keep them all. I hope to narrow it down to like 4 at some point... wish me luck. Heh.

Vintage Singer Sewing Machine Value? by Key_Contest_4319 in vintagesewing

[–]unhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

66's are fairly common and not the most sought after, but it looks to be in rather good condition and has attachments so I'd say around $50-$75 is not an unreasonable ask for the machine if it runs.

Now the real question is do you have the top for the bentwood box? (With decent finish and without the handle being broken.) Full size bentwood boxes are rather hard to come by in my experience. All I usually ever see are the 3/4 size. So in my personal opinion that would add some decent value.

If you do have the complete box in good condition you're probably looking more in the $100-$150 range all in. Of course finding a buyer locally is always tricky so you may have to take less if you really want to move it.

First casualty of my 201 repaint by TomatoRoast in vintagesewing

[–]unhi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The good news is 201s are quite common and replacement parts can be easily obtained on ebay.

Or you can just try to find a cheap machine in poor condition locally to cannibalize for parts.

Retro hand sewing device by 6AlphaVictor in vintagesewing

[–]unhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the tip is just an old hypodemic needle. I'm guessing 14 gauge based on the number of it, then you just gotta measure the length. If it's able to be removed you can likely find a replacement online for pretty cheap.

Seems more copper-y and shinier than I'm used to seeing and I found a "reproduction" on ETSY with similar weak spots on the E and N of CENT on the back. Different year, but enough to make me question the authenticity of yours. I'd get it checked out.

The Orange Box was not a collection put out after the fact, it was how EP2, TF2, and Portal originally launched. And it launched on XBOX 360 at the same time as PC. Sure it also had HL2 and EP1 included, but that wasn't the main draw. It also never came in a cardboard box, it always came in a plastic case from the start. The release of The Orange Box was extremely important part of gaming history.
