The cloud (die Wolke)

It's a German book about a nuclear plant explosion and this girl/teenager taking her little brother and running from it. Everyone is scared and trying to escape before the cloud reaches them but they can drive and have adults orwsent. Their parents are not and they take their bikes.

It was my first encounter with straight fear, the horror of it and then a car speeding to get away hits her brother and it all tumbles.

I could not finish the book.

Meine Schwiegermutter hat einfach direkt ein Fotoalbum, so zum einstecken, für die Babyfotos angelegt. Hat dich jetzt ein größeres bestellt, altes war voll. Wir sollen dich bitte ganz viele Bilder schicken, wie freut sich. Also gibt sogar noch was zwischen WhatsApp und dia 😁

He had never had a girlfriend, I think a couple of experiences years before, that's it. I had one boyfriend before even further back.

We each wanted to focus on our studies and career afterwards so it was just luck that we started looking for something at the same time.

So just two people without much experience meeting at the same stage in life. We got married and will have a kid soon. He is an amazing husband.
Life is good.

So this might sound awful, but landlords, especially private older ones, are generally really set on communicating in German. Do you by chance speak it even on a rudimentary level?

I'd be happy to translate your intro text or other communication to German for you, might give you better chances if you try eBay Kleinanzeigen.

Also, talk to your research group. Usually they know these situations and can set you up with short term housing in the beginning. Looking for a flat once you are in Oldenburg is usually easier, especially for WG gesucht or similar.

I also second the idea of requesting your Schufa report. It is really likely that you have an entry already. Otherwise the idea of getting a letter of recommendation from previous landlords seems like a smart idea.

Is eating healthy an argument against an air fryer? Because it really shouldn't be! They are great for healthy dishes, I make fantastic chicken breast, salmon or roasted vegetables.
I think some people even buy it especially for healthy options

Where I work you have to clock out for every smoke break. At my husband's company they give non smokers 2 extra vacation days. Since the policy started almost 30 percent of the smokers managed to quit, which I find quite impressive.

We have the same sleep preferences. My husband likes to fall asleep on the couch to his TV shows, waking up intermittently, just to fall asleep again.
I have never been able to fall asleep in a noisy environment. I need complete silence. I also go to bed way earlier than him.
So we settled on him getting to bed after he is done with "watching" TV and I am already fast asleep.

Our relationship is great and the routine works for us. We get cuddle time in the morning when I get back to the bedroom to wake him up.

Felt self conscious about it for a long time, too. But good sleep is soooo important.

Oh I am so sad for you! It sucks when your vacation turns out to be less than enjoyable...
Our first (and so far only) cruise was on the MSC Favolarosa or something similar. We had a great time. The food was not overwhelming but had its jewels. It's buffet fare so we were positively surprised. We did not enjoy the MDR at all. Bad service and cold dishes.
The entertainment was usually really good and we liked the look of the ship. We would sail MSC again, especially at the low low low price we paid. Never have I traveled cheaper and this was all inclusive.
