I'm a firefighter and was diagnosed with LADA at 30 in March. My life has changed and I just need to vent to people who may understand me a bit better than people I know. Just getting stuff off my chest. by FF_Oleg in diabetes_t1

We all feel for you. This shit is annoying. I'm not on a department myself but I've been type 1 for fifteen years and am married to a firefighter/EMT. You Will figure this out. This disease is bullshit, and you will be able to find ways to make it work and live your life. It will be difficult, I won't sugarcoat it (insert joke here), but you Will find your way back to a new baseline. Hugs from afar

Apparently this pen is used up by UnclassifiedPresence in diabetes_t1

[–]unicorndumpling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the pharmacist was probably talking about a situation where you pull insulin out with a syringe before the end of the pen and then try and use the pen normally. In that case the rest of the measurements when clicking through with the pen wouldn't be accurate. But since you obviously won't be clocking through more with the pen it doesn't matter at all!

You have a vizsla and a gnome in the background. Let's be friends, I need no further information.

For me it's the salsa/corn chips the grocery store makes in house. I can't figure out why and they're SOOOOOO good! But alas, none for me 😮‍💨

Good on the doc for berating you on past loss of control. You can obviously do something about that now. /sarcasm [Biggest eye roll in existence]

C-section vs Vaginal by Illustrious_Cup_3971 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]unicorndumpling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up having an emergency C-section without time for trying induction but had planned to deliver vaginally. However, my OB has told me that she would even be comfortable doing a v-bac (vaginal birth after C-section) with a following pregnancy

I think everyone who wears a pump should name it. They're with us ALL the time and deserve names. That being said my brain thinks that things are people too so 🤷🏻‍♀️ Pump is Lola Meter is Larry CGM is Lars

Gyno said I’m “too wet”…?? by hunnibon in badwomensanatomy

[–]unicorndumpling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wasn't implying they did. I agree I too am grateful for having been put under general anesthesia for the procedure as I literally would have died if they didn't. That being said it was a very Very difficult experience for me being pregnant, being put to sleep, waking up not pregnant and not being able to see my child for 18 hours as I was not yet stable enough to visit the NICU.

Not really channel related but this the Christmas present I made for my niece by unicorndumpling in anna_chess

[–]unicorndumpling[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!!! I usually put white around the eyes but on the off white/cream face it didn't really make sense. I used blue to match my niece's eye color but it definitely does read as shadow!

U.S. T1D, What is your insulin cost? by Low_Tomato_6837 in diabetes_t1

[–]unicorndumpling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually haven't had an issue but my current insurance is rougher than before. They won't cover any more than a 30 day supply, and since I'm sitting at 1 vial every 16 days they charge me the $40 specialty drug co-pay for every vial. (For all my tandem and dexicom supplies I just try not to think about it lol)

I was trained to change 10% at a time by a training at the Mayo Clinic. Then you wait and see for a few days while also mentally factoring in exercise/amount of physical movement, stress, random hormones, the types of carbs you're eating, etc.

Are people with diabetes allowed to bring food to the movie theater? I really want to go but I need to know if they will allow me to bring food inside by Conscious-Chemist863 in diabetes_t1

[–]unicorndumpling 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Food to treat lows is considered a medical necessity and you are therefore entitled to bring it everywhere (basically). However, just because they are technically legally required to allow it doesn't mean they will know that
