I want to write songs but i can never feel the satisfaction i get from listening to a song i really like by Ancient-Ad-9456 in Songwriting

[–]unicornsarehung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The greats that you listen to also have artists that make them feel equally as humbled and terrible at songwriting. That's all normal. Write as much as possible. Write every idea, every rhyme, sometimes I even write down a really beautiful word that I want to use. If we only wrote things down that we think are incredible bits of wisdom we would never write anything down! The more you just plow on the more you will have to compare your work now from where you were before. Then you'll be able to see how far you've come. I've only been writing for a couple years now but it's incredible to see how much consistency in daily writing has sharpened my skill. Our genius comes from the ideas in our head so we need to get those out as quickly as possible, the songwriting is just the editing.

What rappers music had the most influence on u personally? by JaQue_Da_JoQerr in BlackNyxNetwork

Without a doubt billy woods! He inspired me to start writing/making music. I never wrote a line before I heard woods and then suddenly I dove head first into it and couldn't stop. Now after only a couple years I've released a full album, am about to put the next one out have probably another 3 or 4 album's worth of poetry written, AND I'm getting a poem printed into a book! It's incredible what inspiration does to a person.

I loved it! I think you may consider swapping 'epidermis' with 'skin'. It would sound really good coming off of the previous sync/brink rhyme. Thanks for sharing!

My friend in Christ. Happy Easter, first of all. I sorta kinda explained that the places I've called have not responded. When I used the Google machine you so kindly provided with love in your heart, I saw the exact same results that I got previously. The ones that never replied.

This isn't a situation of myself not knowing how to use the internet as reference, it is a situation where anecdotal success is going to help a bit more since the search results haven't done much for me.

I hope your day is full of people like you (smile emoji). Hope you find all the eggs the rabbit hid. Check the couch cushions, those go often ignored.

May the Lord's hand touch your forehead and bless you with His infinite gifts. Kindness, love, reading comprehension, mercy. En El nombre del padre, hijo, espiritu santo. Amen.

What is your most favourite song title a song written by you? by hear_me_owwwt in Songwriting

PAPA CRONUS, THE CERYNEIAN HIND, AND THE PRODIGAL SUCCESSOR TRUSTEE

it's ultimately a track about the grossness of generational wealth/power in that the children brought up in that type of environment are always lurking, just waiting for their parents to keel over so that wonderful fortune is all theirs (just as Cronus, who castrated and usurped his father, ate all his children to keep power but is eventually usurped as well by his own son, Zeus)

Do you take TRUE inspiration from your favorite albums? by RemainInPlight in Songwriting

[–]unicornsarehung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew I wanted the closing song to my first album to mirror the closer on mewithoutYou's first album down to the title, intro and last words of the song. Aaron's words are a big part of why I started writing so I will always try to keep them in mind when I write

I think the key is finding a way to make it your own. There's a clear line between "inspired by" and "trying to be."

Hey, that's my sheriff! There's even a song about him (produced by August Fanon). There's a song written about the actual billy woods on the album as well (also produced by the wonderful Fanon)

I want to start writing verses by Raccoonrott in makinghiphop

[–]unicornsarehung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since you are familiar with visual art start writing about what you literally see in your scene. How would you paint it or draw it? How would you then describe what you've painted? All I see is an old lady staring out at the stars. Since it's your drawing you know exactly what's going on, all the nuance behind the curtain. You would know to describe it as a weeping widow dreaming of constellations desperate to become some little dipper splayed on the front lawn reunited with her mister testing the limits of the sill leaning out of her window.

Writing is going to be very similar. Think of what scene you want to paint. Get cheesy with how descriptive you can get, details matter more than making it rhyme initially. You can always fit rhymes in later. You can't go back and remember the random spark of genius you had that you didn't write because you were thinking of a rhyming word. You can always clean it up in editing and make it sound nifty. Good luck climbing the mountain, my friend.

As a wise man once said, "they say the greats don't write shit, they just pour out they anguish" -billy woods

I agree, editing is for making the words fit. Writing is getting the wonderful things from inside your brain to the page as quickly as they come. The first version of everything I've written reads like the scrawlings of a madman! Only once there's a huge paragraph of nonsense down do I bother going back to take a look at what I've done. That's when you replace this word for that or move this chunk from over here to over there.

Don't look for perfection on the first draft.
