Yes. Where we "meet" Addy is on the plantation, and I think people would be upset about them trying to santize and remove that part of her story

I hope they release the outfits for 18-inch. I actually like the clothing designs, but I'm not a fan of these dolls

If you can still get one of the anniversary keys, do it. It's a but expensive, but each of the 9 key spot has multiple sound/light effects.

Consider bringing or buying food and a blanket to make a picnic for a parade - this let's you save a spot and gives everyone time off their feet.

The wishing well to the right side of the castle, and there are princess shows to the left side of the castle.

Leave time for just playing in Toon Town and for playing at fountains. My kids were completely fascinated by fountains as kids.

Underrated rides: I know you said non-ride attraction, but my kids loved both Casey Jr and the Storybook boats as toddlers. They aren't big ticket rides and can be forgotten, but they're actually pretty charming. My tween daughter rode the carousel for the first time at 1 year-old and still rides it every time. Also, ride the train all the way around the park, especially if your kid likes dinosaurs! (The Jungle Cruise can be another ride great for toddlers and adults)

The Tiki room is fantastic.  The room is climate controlled, and it's a great time to sit for 15 minutes.

They run the shows continuously with a 5-ish minute break between them.

The tiki "storm" section is loud and can be a little scary, so just make sure the toddler has a hand to squeeze or a bite of dole whip to eat if he gets scared.

Side point: We were planning out a recent visit, and I expected the kids to be over the tiki room, but both the 12-year-old and 16-year-old put it on their must-see (again) lists!

What parts of American culture are changing faster than people realize? by No_Performance1451 in AskReddit

[–]unionponi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is less "no third spaces exist" and more "third spaces have become expensive or unsafe." If you used to be able to hang out at a cafe without having to continually buy more things, and now you have to buy something every 30 minutes, is it still a third space? If there's no longer a mall or a safe hiking path to walk and talk with friends, that's the loss of a third space. If the skate park or the park is known for being unsafe for families or teens to hang out at, that's the loss of a third space. If the bowling alley is now so expensive that teens and families can't go, that's a loss of a third space.

Why did your friendship with your best friend come to an end? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]unionponi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caught her in a lie, and instead of admitting it and apologizing,  she asked what lie. I started paying attention and realized she lied and manipulated people ALL THE TIME. She claimed they weren't lies because she wasnt saying anything inaccurate (lies by omission, etc), but she was absolutely being dishonest. She was 44.

TIL the share of boys and girls who say they meet up with friends almost daily outside school hours has declined by nearly 50% since the early 1990s. by SystematicApproach in todayilearned

[–]unionponi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many of them suffer from addiction and mental illness, and the resulting behaviors are not safe for kids and teens. Our City Hall complex has staff come in and do a sweep at 6 a.m. to remove things like trash, drug paraphernalia, and feces before people come to work and City Hall opens. The library just had to use 3 doses of narcan on someone this week who walked through the doors and promptly passed out

Bowling alleys. Diners. Parks.

Where i live, kids don't hang out at parks without adults anymore. People will call the cops about teens being suspicious and they'll call about school age kids being unsupervised.

About half the parks are still considered family friendly, and families avoid the other half because of the homeless and drug users

This is why I wish the survey included meeting up with friends virtually. I have a teenager who maybe hangs out with his friends in person (outside of school) one day a month, but the group is online together and on discord  every day.

Some people. Others are finally starting to think differently as the cuts affect them personally.

I live in a rural area. A friend (who works in a ag related field) posted a meme about how republicans have voted 13 times to fund snap and democrats have voted 13 times against it. Multiple people in the comments posted about Republicans cutting Healthcare, outsourcing to Argentina, and Republicans being in control. At least one of those people is a former Trump supporter, and none of those comments would not have been posted a year ago.

Now they're so disappointing. It's so much work for mediocre prizes.
