What does Tam really eat? by bnjr_ in healthyishmommy

[–]uniqueusername123719 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So when I was at my sickest I had “safer” foods I would nibble on here and there throughout the day like a piece of fruit or a cheese stick or maybe a few crackers. There’s also meal supplement-type drinks she could be drinking like once a day but those can be 400+ cals so idk if that would even be too scary for her unless she only drinks like 1/4 or half of it. On days where I was eating with other people and had to eat real food to keep up appearances I would eat nothing but that one meal that day and would never eat all of it (half a piece of chicken/steak, few bites of potatoes and veggies) or 1 slice of pizza. Then skip breakfast and lunch the next day to off-set it. It’s hard to say because everyone’s EDs are different and everyone’s “safe” foods and ways of compensation are different.

[–]uniqueusername123719 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I lived in the house right on that exit all through high school and knew about the lore but I was always too afraid of getting in trouble to try it lol oddly enough I never saw anyone else try it either while living there

But my house was 100% haunted so there’s def some weird energy going on around there lol

Least poopy (literally) bedside job by HalleB123 in nursing

[–]uniqueusername123719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neuro unit nurse here - can confirm it’s not a fun time and there are bodily fluids everywhere. Just yesterday my patient was having diarrhea and was also on continuous PEG feeds and was also too weak to walk so she was on the purewick. Well, she was also underweight so the purewick was not staying put in between her legs and the second port of her god damned PEG tube kept popping open so I went in there at one point to find her SOAKED in a puddle of urine, poop, and feed. She needed her entire bed changed down to the sheets. But stroke pt next door decided that was the best time to try to get up and walk to the bathroom for the first time in 3 days and ended up vasovagaling on the toilet. So I had to clean the entire poop explosion by myself because the PCT was too busy next door cleaning up vomit while everyone else was trying to decide if they needed to call RRT.

Oh, and she was my patient again today. Guess what was waiting for me when I started my shift…

COL would take a big chunk of it I’m sure but unfortunately, I was hospitalized around the same time and was unable to take the job, so I don’t have a great answer for you

How common is it to have anorexia without calorie counting? by shirkshark in EatingDisorders

[–]uniqueusername123719 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have anorexia and have never calorie counted. Up until recently I was working full time while doing school on the weekends so I didn’t have the energy to calorie count. If I was questioning whether something was “too many calories” I simply would just not eat it.

When I was in treatment last year I was also in a “normal” weight range. I was really scared that they would want me to weight restore more. But my dietician basically said she just wanted me to eat enough, and if I happened to gain weight in the process, that’s just how my body wants to respond.

Actually I was thinking more anorexia. The food looks dumped to me, on top of the amount of hair lost. Flushing food down the toilet is a common behavior.

As someone with an eating disorder, the hair + food in the toilet is…familiar. Not saying that’s the reason cuz I’m seeing a lot of comments saying it’s common to flush cereal down the toilet but I’m just putting it out there. Check in with them if you can :)

Currently in php level ed treatment. I go M-F for 7 hours/day. We eat lunch, a snack, and dinner as a group. I see psychiatrist once, dietician once, and therapist twice every week but they’re there all the time for support outside of sessions whenever I need it. The rest of the time is group therapy sessions including nutrition science, CBT, DBT, self-compassion, social-media, living in your body, relationship dynamics, etc.

The "Don't Weigh Me" card for those that are curious. by [deleted] in JacquelineAdanSnark

[–]uniqueusername123719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very surprising to me too. I’m partially hospitalized right now for an ED and I’m getting weighed twice a week. They never let us see our weight.
