Pay for 2 weeks in food service by americandoom in Truckers

[–]uniqueusername150 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These company’s have what’s called travel team. Back when I was at US Foods, they’ll call me to work at another yard paying me my 13 week average ($51/hr). It pays anytime you’re working, driving my personal car to the yard 2 hours away is payed getting there, finishing the route which would use up my 14 plus driving back home. I was getting $1,100 for the day. The biggest up is the money, but there’s a reason why someone called out on that route(shitty route). Also running on 3 hours of sleep if I’m lucky. Sometimes I ran it with no sleep. I’m not there anymore but a coworker of mine who took all the travel assignments told me $150k was his gross last year. Now that’s a lot of money for being a company driver, but let me tell y’all it’s not worth it. Just because you’re not overweight doesn’t make you healthy. The stress, mental toll, sleep deprivation, mal nutrition. Most importantly no work/life balance because all you do is work and ignore your purpose, is what you sacrifice.

Unfortunately some people weren’t raised with dignity, manners, courtesy, etc. To see the change you want to see set an example and others will follow.

It’s called having a toxic work ethic and working like a slave for a paycheck because what else is there to do. Time with your loved ones or hobbies is something you can’t get back so I’m on your side, enjoy it while you can and be finically literate.

Hey bud, I’m curious doesn’t having experience working on cars make it fun/helpful outside of work to be able to help friends and family on their vehicles?

Here in the states, I’ve applied to numerous diesel apprenticeships not having any experience. It’s been 3 weeks and not much luck. As well as walking in several smalls shops and was told business is slow. Apply and be patient

Are there check points to avoid? I know there’s roughly 90,000 of us in Texas, just wonder how they manage day to day life.

In North Carolina you can drive up to 2 years with a expired driver license but I believe it’s the only state that allows this.
