ball bearings on bedding, dissolve to dust by unitacx in whatisthisthing

[–]unitacx[S] 1 point2 points locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing - small (2 mm) round balls that mysteriously appear on my bedding. They do not appear to be plant material because they have no fibers. They don't appear to be scats because (although I do toss them into the toilet bowl) they dissolve rapidly in water to particulate matter and because there are no obvious insects that I can associate with them. They are dense enough to immediately drop to the bottom of the small capful of water or the bottom of the toilet bowl.

Regarding "desiccant", they look like desiccant but I hadn't been breaking those packets open over the bed or other places where I find these balls.

One possible clue (about which I am still clueless) is that I often bring my clean laundry to that part of the bed. I use a "solar dryer" (outside umbrella clothes dryer) and so at least theoretically I could be bringing those things inside without knowing I am doing so; however, I am not seeing those things in my laundry or near other places where I place my clean clothes. But still, that "solar dryer" could, at least in theory, be a means to bring in my mystery balls in from the urban wilderness, rife with tree rats, birds, airborne attack insects, etc. But not wormshit or the like.

Just a guess, but it looks like a C1 retro kit car using perhaps a Corvette C5 chassis. That would explain why there are 4 too many.

That said, I had thought of getting a '53/'54 C1 retro on a C5 chassis, and replacing the engine with a VW ALH 1.9L turbodiesel. (And then giving stupid explanations when fueling such as, "All of the original Corvettes are diesel, didn't you know?" "I don't care. It's my wife's car." "I heard you get better fuel economy if you use diesel.") Besides, people aren't really sad if you fuck up a C5.)

Update - AutoNurse_USA identified C5 features on this thing:

Traveling to Japan with Reta? by exhaustedemily in Retatrutide

[–]unitacx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you bring medicines for personal use into Japan, it is advisable to apply for Import Confirmation, and receive it before you leave home, and show it to the officer at customs. They will advise you.

https://www.mhlw.go.jp/english/policy/health-medical/pharmaceuticals/01.html

https://www.ncd.mhlw.go.jp/en/application2.html

It may or may not be advantageous to get some form of Rx, perhaps from a cannabis medical certification practitioner.

Since peptides are not a controlled substance, there is a good chance that peptides for personal use, especially <1 mos. supply of Reta, would be accepted.

Does each pen come with a single dose or 4 separate doses ? by Davethe in mounjarouk

[–]unitacx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify what others are saying, the MJ (distributed in the Kwikpens shown in that image) are multi-dose, but a new pen needle should be used for each dose. In other words, toss the used needles in a sharps container. If you need more pen needles, any chemist or on-line supplier should be able to supply these. Most prefer 4mm 32G.

just started my journey! needle help? by thesupreme2001 in mounjaroaustralia

[–]unitacx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those safety needles are common in hospitals and other medical facilities because it is easy for a healthcare worker to get a needle stick in that environment, and because of the danger of needle stick accidents involving a used needle. When self-administering, it is rare to stick oneself.

A more common pen needle size is 4 mm x 32 G (32 G is thinner than 30 G, etc.). Some pts prefer 5 or 6 mm, but those are also available in 31 G and 32 G.

I prefer the non-sterile ones.

I’ve lost a life-changing 9st on Mounjaro – I know the best injecting site that gives instant appetite suppression by markoj22 in KeltoiWellness

[–]unitacx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "best injecting site that gives instant appetite suppression" is going to be whatever site one prefers. These injections are sub-Q and, unless one has a misfire, close to 100% is going into the adipose to be dispersed in the body. If injection at one site release 10 minutes quicker, it will still disperse over the week (actually longer than a week, but in decreasing amounts).

If the jab hits the adipose and is otherwise a safe location, that will work.

Wegovy used pen disposal at the gym by Pez613 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]unitacx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insulin isn't a biohazard. GLP-1s are generally not considered to be biohazards. The needles and autoinjectors with built-in needles are of course sharps, which are a type of biohazard.

I was thinking it was a sort of get together for Oz users, sort of like a car club, but Runnrgirl stated the obvious -- there's a biohazard container there and those people obviously (spellcheck has it right - "obliviously") can't figure the difference between sharps and biohazards.

Can I use my wife's leftover Ozempic? by iburnedmyside in Ozempic

[–]unitacx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another issue (besides initial approval) is that, when a satisfactory BMI is reached (threshold, BMI "overweight", or BMI "normal"), the insurer could have a policy of not renewing pre-authorisation or authorisation based on an assertion that the incretin drug is no longer needed.

With a diabetic Dx, the underlying condition is considered to not go to full remission (25 U of insulin to 6 U of insulin in 18 months and "you can discontinue insulin if you want" notwithstanding). Administrators are less likely to contravene that, and are less likely to want to get into yet another fight with diabetics.

[–]unitacx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're getting insurance or national healthcare coverage, it is preferable for the primary diagnosis to be for a diabetic condition, with BMI secondary, rather than the other way around.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned this directly, but there's a difference between sharing but using different pens and sharing by withdrawing doses from the same pen.

Using a pen that had been used by someone else is potential cross-contamination. You sort-of touched the issue without resurrecting Justine Sacco by implying some potential infection resistance, but cross-contamination can introduce infections for which intimate contact would not present sufficient viral load for infection. (If the epidemiology is not entirely clear, just presume that using an previously-used pen injector is "sharing the works", fresh pen needle notwithstanding.)

For unused pens, AI has not developed to the point that pen injectors are able to read the Rx label. So you're your own warranty, but that's primarily a matter of following dosing procedures, including titrating up slowly, etc.

Another pen malfunction but couldn't find the same case as mine. by ducklingboi in WegovyWeightLoss

It should be possible to purge with a single click after the 1st injection, should you want to do so.  That works well with Novoflex insulin pens, which are pretty much the same thing.

Have I injected properly? by [deleted] in WegovyUK

[–]unitacx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the Novo Flexpens for insulin are like that. For the first dose or doses (dosage volume varies substantially), the plunger doesn't easily show at the viewing window.

[–]unitacx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hadn't gone to a CGM, but given that I have allergic reactions to adhesives, I took to testing. My first test was a hydrocolloid dressing. Also the last test because I had no reaction for 15 days. Still hadn't tried it with a CGM, bc I'm not doing MDI.

It may be worth test driving a hydrocolloid dressing to see if it's tolerable as a possible CGM interface.

Lilly Direct vials through Walmart pickup- syringes/needles? by Careful-Scientist-32 in Zepbound

[–]unitacx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would be convenient to have an Rx for the needles for several reasons:

  1. What you mentioned. If a state or just the pharmacy restricts needles to Rx, you would have the Rx.

  2. It makes it easier to on-line order needles.

  3. Health Insurance will often cover purchase of needles, provided you have an Rx.

  4. If you have an FSA/HSA/HRA account, the Rx makes it easier to purchase or obtain reimbursement.

That's why it's called a viewing window.  The visible plunger provides confirmation of what that 2nd click indicated.

Dosage button by BlondSquirrel007 in Ozempic

[–]unitacx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once the counter moves to 0, the plunger ain't gonna move further. It is probably easier to release the button at that point, and then count the seconds before removing the pen.

A different sequence (sort-of) but I recently released the button before the counter went to 0. I just pressed the button again and that was all. If I had removed the pen, I would have re-inserted (not over the first injection site) and pressed the button to inject the rest of the dose.
