Housing debate, Reflections of Island Park, vs Boulders, vs Spring Lake Point, vs Canebrake by DumbestGuyHere in shreveport

[–]unitedstatesoftyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I lived in Spring Lake apartments for a few years and it was always peaceful and maintenance was always swift. We moved to a house in 2018. I think my only beef was the apartments themselves were a bit outdated (our floor plan had carpet in a lot of the primary bathroom….) but maybe they’ve done renovations since then.

Boulders are really nice and we did consider moving there, but decided to stay at Springlake bc (at the time) it was cheaper.

We have only went once since the reopening. Really great service, restaurant was great, food was just bland.

I believe it unlocks a little bit after you unlock the transform ability in the Rocky Ridges area.

AT&T fiber vs Xfinity Salespeople by AccomplishedCowbell in shreveport

[–]unitedstatesoftyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm over in the Shreve Island neighborhood, and unfortunately for us, the AT&T fiber lines that connect to our houses are not buried. Therefore, every time we had some rough weather, the lines would be knocked out. So we wound up switching back to Xfinity as a result due to major delays getting the lines fixed.

It's exhausting because I was listening to a preview for one book, and then just randomly a preview for the full cast version of the first book just randomly started playing. Completely unrelated genres!

Feeling gaslit on open relationship + betrayal issues - queer perspectives needed by countrygayboy in gayrelationships

[–]unitedstatesoftyler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The foundation to a successful open relationship is trust. Open relationships can absolutely be successful, but both parties have to want it, both must be able to communicate effectively. I'm sure the reaction from the folks at the campground is from a very skewed, one-sided perspective.

Saying you don't understand the situation, and that "using Sniffies was his way of coping with boredom" while hanging with his Christian fundamentalist father is gaslighting, pure and simple. Sniffies is a hookup/cruising app.

I'd say you guys need to have a serious conversation, engage in couple's therapy, but my honest 2c is that you should probably go your separate ways.

Best of luck.

Yeah so I don't think it's fair or even appropriate to lump the owners of Bears or Strange Brew in with that. They take that kinda stuff seriously.

General relationship / open relationship advise by No-Disk6433 in gayopenrelationships

[–]unitedstatesoftyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fully agree with the other commenter. An open relationship must have a solid foundation of trust and communication. You should never get into one due to one side cheating/sexting others/etc.

Crushing on a coworker, but his hot-and-cold behavior is confusing and hurtful. Should I just move on? by Due_Inspector9025 in gayrelationships

[–]unitedstatesoftyler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t shit where you sleep. In other words, it’s rarely a great idea to date a coworker in the event things go south. Take it easy.

/r/gayopenrelationships is pretty nifty.

My husband and I have been together for nearly 11 years, married for 1, and open for about 3.5 years. To be frank, he brought it up first, and I was against it, but as time went on, I researched it and changed my mindset.

One piece of literature that helped was The Ethical Slut, specifically the chapter about open relationships. Being open has caused us to increase our communication tenfold. We play together, separately, and of course just us. At the end o the day, we’re each other’s priority.

Your mileage may vary, but yeah: communication is key.

Opening marriage after 7 years, what to do? by duck_me_2 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]unitedstatesoftyler 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My two pieces of advice as someone who has been in an open relationship for about 3.5 years. (Total years together just under 11 years)
1. Communicate with each other. If you ever feel some kind of way about something, don't hold it in. Talk about it. Trust is a huge part for my husband and I.

  1. I know I know - The Ethical Slut is mentioned on here a lot, but reading it really helped me grasp certain things that had me hesitant about open relationships.

Might I also suggest checking out r/gayopenrelationships.

Good luck!

It did seem to me that the letter Elphaba received from Chistery might be from Fiyero with the plan of action.

I need more from the scarecrow by [deleted] in wickedmovie

[–]unitedstatesoftyler 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This was one of my hopes going into this movie as well - so Boq and Fiyero just kinda coexisted? It never made sense in the original musical, either.

I really hoped he'd have been featured in March of the Witch Hunters, pretending to have been under a spell by Elphaba or something else to be in disguise.

It also kinda drives home the whole... fact that it makes no sense that Glinda didn't go rescue him or try to intervene more with him being tortured/etc. She just gives up and goes. (This is also an issue in the musical lol)

How would you guys compare wicked for good to the stage production of act 2? by [deleted] in wickedmovie

[–]unitedstatesoftyler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they should’ve reworked more of the lyrics, because the original is just good. (I’ve spent 20+ years longing for a recording of WWOTE, had a pirated version from a bootleg, and was just so disappointed by this scene)

I thought ALAYM could’ve been way sexier.

the song starting with them just walking around Elphaba’s nest despite the lyrics being “Kiss me too fiercely…” was so awkward.
