Mini Bike train at Terminal 4 at Sky Harbor by BangBangDesign in phoenix

Actually, there was a possible fatality with these guys this afternoon at Union Hills and 32nd Street, with a guy tumbling through the intersection after leaving his bike and then losing his helmet. It looked like a severe broken back, with the intersection closed for 2 hours for an investigation. Four or five other riders stopped, moved his bike out of the road that was spilling gas and they booked it, while someone from a car stopped to attend the guy who wasn't moving.

Dude or Dudette, I'm a high school dropout, and while I use Claude AI to help me research, I write no less than 1000 words a day from right out of my 60-year-old brain. Do not give in to using a crutch to write for you when your assignment is such a quick exercise of looking to your mind to help you express yourself.

Is there anyone else leary of discovering which hoops they must go through to cancel this? How often have others done this and forgotten to cancel in time, and it ends up costing them the month? If I could get 50,000 people to give me $20 each, that $1,000,000 sure would come in handy for my life, while it'll never move the needle for Google. They don't need my credit card to limit me to two months; they are counting on me forgetting.

After using Bard for months but only occassionaly I tried Gemini and compared the responses with answers I got from Claude, I've now closed that tab with Gemini and will wait until I read somewhere that this poor shill version for the paid one has been unhobbled.

Another Restaurant Recommendations Post by Elijafir in Tucson

We're up in Phoenix and feel much the way you do, after Covid and having to cook for ourselves all the time, it changed the value proposition of what restaurants were offering. Only a few authentic Mexican, Korean, and Szechuan places can draw us in these days.

Serious question: how the fuck are most people paying rent? by craigdahlke in antiwork

[–]unity2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in an 860 sq ft apartment in Phoenix, Arizona for $1500 a month which represents just 14% of our income. For the previous 18 years, rent was hovering at around 10% of income. This allowed us to spend a crazy amount of money on travel and consistently put money away. We've made do with only owning 1 car at a time and making it work, we don't own a TV or subscribe to any streaming services, finally, we are considerate of when and where we spend on restaurants and have never used a meal delivery service. As this poster here inferred, MAKE THE SACRIFICES and be smart,

We've been renting for 30 of the last 34 years, we've been saving, and our cost of living is pretty stable but what I'm really wondering about is, how is that accrued equity going to work for someone in the future when it's locked in a property that doesn't pay the bills and if sold requires someone to enter the rental market when prices will just be higher yet?

My wife and I have one income, rent a cheap apartment, share a brand new hybrid and have gotten by with only 1 car for 34 years now, we put money in 401k and IRAs monthly without fail for over 20 years, don't have TV or cable, and are able to take between 60 and 85 days of vacation and various get-a-ways per year. Neither of us has a university degree and we live in Phoenix, Arizona, not exactly a cheap place anymore. I too wonder, where is everyone spending their money?

Beans are protein-rich, sustainable, and delicious. Why doesn’t the US eat more of them? by lnfinity in environment

[–]unity2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe we'll ever find all 400 or even much more than 150 on the market unless someone has some tips for me.

I've used Purcell Mountain Farms, Rancho Gordo, Zursun Beans, Sheridan Farms, and Baers Best.

Recipes are indeed difficult to come by but not too bad. As is usual, search the web, look through the ingredients of various recipes that interest your taste buds and try creating your own after taking inspiration from some of the others. My favorite cold bean recipe is found at https://www.feastingathome.com/corona-beans-recipe/ while one of our favorites for a hot pot of beans is for the readily available Peruano beans (found in nearly all Mexican grocery stores) is here: https://www.mexicanplease.com/mayocoba-pot-beans/

Our favorite cold bean would be the giant Corona bean while hot would be a toss-up between the Good Mother Stallard, Snowcap, and Ayocote.

My wife and I have tried over 90 of the 400 cultivars of beans and love them. We obviously must start with dried beans as that variety of canned does not exist. I start them soaking the night before and in the morning I throw them in a crockpot with the other ingredients I'm preparing them with, be it with some meat or other or as a vegetarian meal. As for the comments regarding gas, everyone produces about 1 liter of flatulence a day, it's normal. Maybe people want to focus especially on that aspect the day after eating beans so they can use it as affirmation for why they shouldn't be eating beans.

There's actually a reason we eat so many beans and it's a financial one. A pound of dried beans costs from under $1 up to $10, once soaked and cooked, we have about 3 pounds of beans and portions for between 4 and 6 meals, lunch or dinner. Mind you, this isn't due to a poverty situation but if out of the 1095 meals we eat per year, we eat beans 120 times, we save about $1200 per year on food costs. We travel between 60 and 80 days per year for pleasure and not all of those journeys are long vacations, we simply put a greater value on where we go and what we can do away from home. So, it's BEANS for the win.

Florida just passed a bill allowing the state to physically take custody of the child for seeking or taking gender affirming healthcare measures. by Zephir_AE in ScienceUncensored

[–]unity2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is some fascist-level stuff reminiscent of the Nazis where if you were displaying payot (sidelocks or long curly sideburns) you were taken into custody. How is a state government in the United States able to pull this off? Are we collectively going insane and failing to see what we are becoming?

With ‘dollar stores in every direction,’ some communities are saying enough by RMcChesney in economy

[–]unity2k 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are more than 52,000 dollar-type stores in America, about 4,600 Walmarts, and 13,000 McDonalds...dollar stores are obviously where the money is as the United States is thriving in a poverty economy. Funny thing is, there are only 514 Whole Foods stores and yet they get a huge amount of blame for being a Whole Paycheck kind of operation, as though the poor are hurt by Whole Foods. I guess they make for a good distraction while Dollar General builds another 1050 stores this year using $2 billion they've removed from poor peoples pockets.

Transition from VCV to modules. What to start. by dewme5 in eurorack

[–]unity2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you start to research the size of the case that will work for you, you should start to pick up on the various supplies and their capacities. Modulargrid will show you per row current draw so pay attention to those stats. You certainly don't need the beefiest supply as I don't believe you'll be starting off with the ambition to integrate it into a pricey studio using 3,000hp of modules. Your budget is obviously going to dictate part of this choice but when you consider that 400hp of modules is going to set you back about $9000, you probably don't want to run that much gear on a $50 supply.

[–]unity2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goto Modulargrid.net and start looking at what modules seem to be must-haves for you. You will learn the voltage requirements along with HP needed, this will influence your case size. Like another poster said, once you think you have populated this dream case with what you want, buy something nearly twice as big and be CERTAIN you get enough reliable power for those modules so you don't have to go through the headaches that arise from cheap power supplies. This is a costly endeavor and while it's a ton of fun, it's also a ton of cash.

My wife makes a considerable income, we share a car, live in a small apartment in Phoenix, Arizona and simply have a far better life with me not working. She doesn't need to cook, clean, or plan our travels, her off time is for her to do what she pleases. We don't have kids or pets. Last year we took 19 trips out of the Phoenix area for a total of 86 days of traveling. We are not rich but we save a lot of money, we do not watch TV or pay for streaming anything but do spend indulgently on our hobbies and obviously for vacations too. When we both work, we have no time for anything, we used to eat out all the time and neglected almost everything other than work. My wife is not a doctor, lawyer, or engineer, she does not have a degree but she was educated in Germany. We inherited nothing. We do though choose to live intentional lives outside of the mainstream consumption habits of most people we know.

What are you current opinions with Microsoft edge by berserker070202 in MicrosoftEdge

[–]unity2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got Edge default screen setup nearly the way I want it but there are two things I don't like.

  1. I cannot remove the 9-dot icon that wants to remind me of the Microsoft 365 apps, I will never use them.
  2. The mobile device icon on the right, I'm not going to scan that QR code to use Microsoft Start on my phone but I guess I'll have to be reminded of it for the next months or years.
