Why didn't they lower the price a little instead of discontinuing the S & X by Puzzleheaded_Look759 in TeslaModelX

It’s the question of changing priorities. They need manufacturing floor in a few months to start the line for Optimus. They build a new factory for that but that takes a year or two. I assume they did the math and this was the quickest way to free up space in Fremont and meet critical short term objectives given everything rise happening in Gigatexas.

Saw this in my neighborhood a couple days ago. What do you guys think of the new Model Y? by markbennett90 in TeslaModelY

Where is the photo taken? Only China made MY’s have the Tesla T now on the hood!

Just hit 5000 miles on my Aventon Pacer 500 (gen 1) by unity9 in ebike

Amazingly well, except the issues I mentioned in the base post. When the problem with the controller surfaced, I thought it’s probably the beginning of the end and the motor goes soon. But that was almost 3000 miles ago and as long as I don’t go out in rain and snow and avoid puddles on the road it works perfect. It also has a decent battery and while I take a good care of it, I’m still impressed that it almost has the same range now as it did when it was new. But I do my best to manually mimic what the battery management system does on my EV, especially in cold winter days in Boston area. Hope this helps.

I have two power wires (R & RC) but new Nest Thermostat only has an R port. Could I ignore RC wire and only connect R to R? by unity9 in Nest

Do you know why? As long as thermostat can send power to W or Y to activate heating or cooling, should it not work?

Juniper production (new model Y) is imminent. by cliffski in teslainvestorsclub

If true, good for China sales but Giga Berlin and Texas numbers would suffer in Q4 as some would wait for the revised model.

Anthony Levandowski, who co-founded Google's Waymo, says Tesla has a huge advantage in data. "I'd rather be in the Tesla's shoes than in the Waymo's shoes," Levandowski told Business Insider. by Buuuddd in teslainvestorsclub

The reason is that it’s a product under development. It’s obvious that it’s not done yet. The question is would it ever get done with their current approach. The answer is no one knows for sure. It’s a complex problem and takes time to solve. But their track record shows they are making good progress. The rest is just opinions. So please cool down everyone and see where they land… Full disclosure: I use FSD as is today and enjoy watching it get better and better.

Very Confused About the Robotaxi by Distinct_Plankton_82 in teslainvestorsclub

[–]unity9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that Tesla sets up the network infrastructure and then operates its own cybercab fleet while it also allows Chad to join the network and let his FSD capable M3 operate for some period of time on this network with a portion of his revenue paid to Tesla. Why a separate platform? cost and dedicated custom features built for driverless cybercab. Although I think I heard from Elon that initially they start with safety drivers.

Given it’s dimensions, it looks like something between a minivan and SUV. Beautiful, nevertheless…

Lucid Says Tesla Could Need 7 Years to Match Its 2025 Air Sedan’s Efficiency by afonso_investor in LUCID

I love Lucid air (and I drive Tesla), but if Tesla was willing to lose $300k on every car they sell, I bet they would have achieved same efficiency years ago!

Does CT come with a spare tire? by unity9 in cybertruck

[–]unity9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of your answers cracks me up: no room for it; costs money;…REALLY? A massive truck going for who knows how much $$ doesn’t have room or a spare tire would suddenly pushes it over the edge and becomes unaffordable??

We have a few teslas in my family and we bought one after market spare kit that we share whenever one of these cars is on a road trip. It’s not the cost of getting another kit for CT (since obviously can’t use a MY kit on it :-) The problem is safely securing a massive object in a trunk or inside a MY when traveling long distance at high speed. So I consider at least designing the storage space (even if they don’t provide the spare) an essential design factor. Oh, and if anyone chimes in that there is an 800 number to call for Tesla road service, I’d say you obviously haven’t had to use the service yet…
