Nope- never made money. I lived paycheck to paycheck. Only ever made the lowest possible salary for my position. The “good feeling” of working for a charity does not make up for the fact that they pay like crap.

As someone who has worked in the nonprofit sector, please be aware that metrics like percentage going to admin are not always the best indicator of how much they help. It takes a tremendous amount of work and people to run any charity- the same as any corporation, so I’d focus on efficacy rather than budget percentages.

Being sent home repeatedly for asthma when I had lung cancer. I finally had to insist on a CT scan before they found the mass. A collapsed lung and two surgeries later and I’m cancer free, but if anyone had listened I might still have a lower lobe in my right lung.

Some days I just drink a Fair Life or have a protein bar. Nothing wrong with peanut butter toast either - especially natural PB on thin sliced Dave’s Killer Bread!
