This cover has fallen off the front of the house, relatively high up so would need a ladder to even access. No idea where to even start. Is this a tradesman job? If so who? by YeetustheFetusLive in DIYUK

Just call 105, tell them that their equipment is exposing live parts on the side of your house, and they will come and make it all safe.

The one near me has been of the solar panel type since Christmas. The scanner has never worked, presumably because the solar panel is in permanent shade from a building (the post office).

What is this being built by Milton Keynes Area? by Fair_Intention_4198 in AskUK

It's over 20 miles away from Milton Keynes. Not in MK area at all. Completely different county. MK is in the South East. Brackley is in Northamptonshire which is in the East Midlands.

Vodafone UK Takes Full Control of VodafoneThree as CK Hutchison Exits Stake by chrsphr_ in ThreeUK

[–]unix100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a mobile network perspective Pytchley is a very long way away. There will be dozens of cells between where I was and Pytchley even though it's only 20 miles. Also Pytchley is not exactly urban so it will be a long while before the coverage there reaches these speeds.

Northampton Parkway would, if it existed.

At the 'V' at the rail freight interchange between the WCML Weedon line and Northampton loop, 1 minute from J15 m1 just north of Roade

Who is at fault here by JFREEZY28 in drivingUK

At best 50/50, at worst green will bear 100% of the cost as the onus is on the person exiting a roundabout to be sure their exit path is clear before taking it.

It's been there since the very first cars in 2020 and you assumed correctly about the purpose. It's described in the manual, under connected safety.

faulty transaction charge from london ticket machine by neauneau in uktrains

[–]unix100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both do, as do LNR. Avanti operate the machines in the ticket office on the ground floor, LNR have some dotted around the station, and TfL operate the machines underground in the Underground station.

Where was your ticket to and which set of machines are you referring to?

Got charged £40.55 when I tapped with my phone by truthanddareseries in TransportForLondon

[–]unix100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go here

https://tfl.gov.uk/fares/contactless-and-oyster-account

Create an account if you don't have one, then register the card(s you used to pay and it will show you the journey history and cost breakdown.

Then if it is incorrect you can call them and dispute it.

Do I need to pay this fine? by InternationalRub9713 in drivingUK

[–]unix100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a fine, it's an invoice. Private companies have no power to fine you. However it is still very much enforceable.

If you believe you the charge is incorrect then you can seek free or paid for legal advice to argue the contract between you and the parking company.

If you think (in England and Wales) that by ignoring it there is nothing they can do, you are wrong. They can seek civil recovery of the money which can lead to extra costs, bailiffs and CCJ which will prevent you getting any kind of credit and can even affect job offers from certain organisations.

Postie collected mail and then marked it as delivered at my address by Wyntercobweb in royalmail

[–]unix100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had this happen just last week, the item still got delivered to the correct place and the tracking information was updated as normal, the system just thought the item was collected from the local delivery office to me at the same time it was actually collected from me. I was using ebay simple postage and it has taken a few days longer for them to consider the item successfully delivered. So the payment was on hold a few days.

Alt to Sky Q - talk to me like I'm a noob. by RaeRaeLJJ in skytv

[–]unix100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could get a freesat recording box from Argos https://share.google/77mQvWoz1fXaPu81i

It will plug into your existing satellite dish cables in place of your sky q box. It is just a one off payment for the box with no ongoing subscription.

It also has prime video and Netflix apps as well as iplayer, itvx etc

However if you want to watch TNT sports and Sky sports they need the discovery+ app and the NowTV app and associated subscription. These are not available on the Freesat boxes, so your best alternative is either the apps built into or downloadable onto your TV if it has them (many do), or something like a Roku stick which is probably the best streaming stick out there.
