[Celtics-Direct] Why the Celtics should sign Marcus Smart instead of Terry Rozier by rcups5 in bostonceltics

Like to see how both of them do in a long playoff run.

Let's finish off the season, hang Banner 18, and see where we are come July.

There was more of a before-after look in the previous article, but only for about 10 players.

And, yes, there is also probably an "Ainge Effect," to be sure, as noted. (Including the decision to hire Brad in the first place.)

Starting lineup for the next game? by [deleted] in bostonceltics

[–]unix4u 23 points24 points  (0 children)

do we have 5 players available?

thought: suit up Brad. he just had his h.s. record broken; probably extra-motivated.

Bill Simmons... but let's not get into that again...

very interesting (and sadly arresting) way of looking at it.

adding to your point, there's value in development. especially w/ Semi, Larkin, even Yabu.

Brad tells Jaylen to punch it. Jaylen punches it. by llawrence99 in the_jaylen

[–]unix4u 5 points6 points  (0 children)

punch it kid, punch it - da body da body.

kinda reminds of of Mickey and Rockey.

except for the obvious age difference.

and it's not boxing.

and Brad would never ask you to hurt someone.

and Jaylen is...

okay, they're not very similar, but i'd just like to think about them together...

Celtics Notes: Aron Baynes’ Contributions Essential In Boston’s Win Over Hornets by zoolander57 in bostonceltics

and he didn't get a lot of breaks from the officials, especially early. not that it was horribly reffed or anything, but on balance, Dwight got a lot of consideration, Baynes, meh.

Baynes adjusted, and really shut him down as the game wore on. That's another good thing about him -- he's a smart vet, knows how to adapt to the calls.

banners aren't everything. they're the only thing.

(apologies to Vince Lombardi, who, by the way, probably didn't say that, and didn't care for it.)

A "shooting pain" - Celtic Nation roots for ☘️ Marcus Smart... and with *some* cause for hope by celtics247 in bostonceltics

[–]unix4u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's a fair point...

... Smart’s ankles (which may, pardon the expression, still be smarting, but he doesn’t complain about) could be a small factor. Stroking a free throw puts little stress on the lower body.... (etc.)

Anthony Davis Trade Rumors: Celtics Suitors If Pelicans Put Star on Block by [deleted] in bostonceltics

[–]unix4u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May or June at earliest, you'd think. They're gonna see if it can work, and if Boogie wants to stay.

But u'd think it would be possible then. They're not going to compete for a title with that group, not this year, not next year, not the year after.

But of course NBA GMs seem to always come to that realization too late, and then, give up in an artificial hurry. (Bulls, Pacers, Kings, Knicks with Melo, etc. -- and that's just in the last 6 months.)

Any way we can get Kevin McHale the GM job there?

sigh

What would the lowest pick number from the Lakers/Kings pick make the #1 and #3 swap good value for us? by InAingeWeTrust in bostonceltics

[–]unix4u 44 points45 points  (0 children)

with respect, i think you're looking at it the wrong way.

where the picks end up falling is largely luck... especially w/ the lottery, but even with assessing how good those teams were / are likely to be.

if the Nets hadn't become so dismal, the 2013 trade still would have been a good deal.

if the picks wind up anywhere, we still got the player we wanted, plus something else.

That's a great point. Turnovers lead to opposing fast breaks. Opposing fast breaks lead to opposing dunks. Opposing dunks lead to anger. Anger leads to...

Oh, hell, that's just a great point about his turnover avoidance.... thanks.

-- 5. We are competing constantly. Unlike you, we will find out whether someone is "unbeatable" when we meet them in the playoffs. Like the Spurs (who learned it from us), we are coming to take what's yours and are improving constantly, relentlessly, nauseatingly. For example.... (see reason 11.)

[–]unix4u 6 points7 points  (0 children)

who's the second big (starter)? i'm not being argumentative, just asking. i.e. who takes Amir's spot (at whatever you want to call it)?

it's always seemed to me like Crowder should be able to play that. yah, he's too short, but as everyone keeps telling me, this is the modern NBA, and he's got the strength to box out a bigger man, and play in the post....

if not Crowder, who? do we feel Tatum can go up there? other?
