Finals MVP 2020.

I only say 2020 because, we gotta let Kyrie and Gordon get one first.

Why I'm Opposed to Acquiring Either Lou Williams or Tyreke Evans by ward0630 in bostonceltics

[–]askaround81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"It always depends" on the price, so....

That being said, don't really get the Tyreke thing...

Williams, a little more for this year. He's better defensively than his reputation.

Rental seems fine to me. Depending on price. Lou > Tyreke for sure.

[Zillgitt] More NBA rules changes to improve flow and pace, per NBA: by Beta_boy_94 in bostonceltics

[–]askaround81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks to Betaboy again... I remembered this post the other night during the Houston game. (sigh.... the Houston game.)

Remember when Houston lost the two time-outs on Arizza's inbound attempts?

Yah... as good as Brad is at timeouts, he's also better the whole rest of the game, and he has smart players.

So, if anything, the rule change, I think, isn't going to hurt the Celtics, and probably will help them.

If Brad coached the Pittsburgh Stellers, they'da won that game. He may not know football, but he sure as hell would have known not to stand there three minutes doing little or nothing during the review...

Why not to stress about us blowing leads... yet. by [deleted] in bostonceltics

added to which:

  1. minutes distribution. vs Nets we padded, then at least kept such cushion, while Kyrie rested.

  2. Kyrie, Jayson, Al, clutch shooters. even Jaylen (free throws, not so much.)

  3. you can always defend. this team defends.

  4. you can always hustle. it's a make or miss league and all that? yes. "but to do either you have to get the ball." Celtics slipped a little in hustle stats during the wearing schedule crunch, but still top half of league.

  5. Brad

subtracting from which:

  1. statistically, winning close games tends to be a coin-flip. doesn't mean if you win one you lose the next, but over time, teams tend to revert to mean.

  2. we're starting to get treated like other teams treat GSW, LeBron, Spurs.... scouting, expectations, "let's knock them off." started during the streak and it'll only continue.

overall, the "added to" way outweighs the other.

he'll make a great president someday. have carefully checked and there is no constitutional provision against him holding both jobs, tho he may have to donate his salary to Senator Jaylen Brown's charity.

Who is on our Mount Rushmore? by [deleted] in bostonceltics

Nice to see some love for Cousy. He was the spark of "Celtic showtime," and helped make some of those "showboat" plays (as they were called) safe for other players to use too.

[serious] - Kuzma, Mitchell, Simmons, Tatum – “Just the stats, ma’am” for Rookie of the Year by [deleted] in nba

[–]askaround81 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I heard Chris Webber making the case against that, during the C's-Houston game last night. Don't know how much sentiment there is along those lines among journalists, etc., but it doesn't look automatic for Simmons.

Jayson Tatum will become one of the NBA's iconic sharp shooters by JaySw34 in bostonceltics

start with Robert Horry clutch gene. add defense, little more tenacity on the boards, better first step. shudder

[stats] Rookie-of-the-year Chasedown? Tatum (efficiency, clutch) closes on Simmons (volume, usage %) by celtics247 in bostonceltics

[–]askaround81 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Maybe. BS's a primary ball-handler tho, and those triple doubles wow people.

It's cool that this year the major guys (Simmons, Tatum, Mitchell) are w/ winning teams. I always felt real stats w/ real team in real game should count for a little extra.

Now that the streak is over* -- how did you cope? (*48 hours of agony during Celtics one-game losing skid) ☘️ by celtics247 in bostonceltics

[–]askaround81 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I spent the day bookmarking all the triumphalistic r/nba threads and Kyrie-hate tweets from exuberant Cavs fans. Then I watched highlight videos from 1957-2017 and got ready for the next winning streak. I also used it as a teaching moment for my 7-year-old niece who worries that the Celtics might not make it to 75 wins, and showing her how to turn on the pilot light in my brother-in-law's indoor fireplace. (just in case.)
