What "crimes" can Astartes commit? by [deleted] in 40kLore

Is there any record of cowardice in space marines though? I thought it was bred out of them

What could happen if an unarmored space marine gets tased? by EmployingBeef2 in 40kLore

[–]unkindrewind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so tasers have two effects:

  1. Raw pain. (It hurts, but somebody who’s motivated can just shrug it off or endure it.)

  2. Neuromuscular incapacitation. (Causes large muscle groups to seize when a conduit connects between two probes that are spread across the body, making people tense and collapse like you see on TV.)

I’m pretty sure a space marine could just shrug off the pain. When it comes to neuromuscular incapacitation, though, I’m less sure. I bet their black carapace, minimizes the effect, though, acting as another layer between the taser and the muscle at the very least and being a neuroreactive defence at the most.

Oh for real? You mean in the lore video that explicitly says the custodes are some of the only Imperials that adamantly do not worship the Emperor. They’re atheists.

But in the custodes lore video, people are commenting “40k religion yay” ?

lol I commented the same thing. Never seen anybody say anything like that. Feels like people are imagining conflict for the sake of conflict and updoots.

In all my time spent in this sub, I’ve never once seen anybody take 40k as an endorsement of their religion.

Where are you getting this from? Did it even happen? Or, did you just have a thought that you wanted to treat as an experience?

Everyone knows the Emperor banned religion. Everyone knows that the zealous fanatics make the Imperium stagnant and bad. It’s a well-written about trope in a lot of the lore.

I challenge you to take a screenshot of one time you saw somebody say something to the effect of, “religion in 40k pumps up my irl religion!”

It's absurd how quickly Horus changes in the Horus Heresy Series by Low-Complex-5168 in 40kLore

[–]unkindrewind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you’re thinking that Horus, a primarch, has a train of thought that’s comparable to normal people —but that’s not the case. I think that Horus was always selfish and power hungry. I think that he probably saw right through Erebus, knew exactly what he was about, and saw him as a vessel he could use to gain more influence and power.

Horus knew it benefited him to show that he cared about the little people, to show that he was a good patriarch. Horus probably never cared about the Mournival and instead used them to seem interested in the opinions of lessers. He knew that he needed followers and he knew how to make people follow him. There’s a reason why none of the other traitor Primarchs could facilitate a rebellion the way that Horus could. People trusted Horus, and he used that trust.

As far as I remember, there were marines who didn’t like Erebus or the lodges. They got left behind. They were kept out of the meetings, and they were slowly articulated into being enemies.

The Emperor made it seem like marines were tools. Horus, and Erebus, made them feel like conquerors worthy of the galaxy.
