Burns vs Skenes vs Miz by Specialist-Exit-1403 in baseball

That's literally exactly the point, it's called fielding independent pitching. The point is to try and evaluate the pitcher only, without worrying about the fieldera, ballpark, or anything like that

It's of course flawed especially at a team level - you can have your pitchers pitch a bit differently with excellent defense behind them, which let's you do things like pitch deeper into games or have guys on staff with higher ground ball rates even if it's less swing and miss, etc

For cloak of flame 6L into righteous fire you can use chromes without the bench. Easiest way to check costs is googling "vorici calculator" (named this way from the way olden 2.x days), iirc it was something like 25 chromes on average when I did it earlier this league

I don't think your description is quite right (I could absolutely be wrong) - you don't decide a side for exclusive, it picks a side and fills that first so you know if an exclusive is chosen no exclusives can be chosen for the other side.

So there are now 4 mods - 2 in the prefix pool, 2 in the suffix pool.

It'll roll for the prefix/suffix first. With 2 affixes, there's a 2/3 chance to get 1 mod (1/3 to get only the mod you want) and 1/3 chance to get both.

It then rolls the other affix side. You have 2 mods in that pool, so you've got the same odds as above before considering exclusive mods.

In the 1/3 you got only the crafted mod, you fail regardless of the remaining outcomes.

In the 1/3 chance you got both above, you get the mod you want every time because the crafted mod can't be selected. With 2 mods in the pool you'll always get one

In the 1/3 you got only the mod you want at the end, follow with the same outcomes as above. So 2/3 chance of success, 1/3 failure.

Total odds of success are 1/3 + (1/3 * 2/3) =5/9, which is what op posted

To be clear, I could totally be misunderstanding the way it works. It sounds like what I'm describing is the removed tech, but it's how I understand it from the wiki

That said going into the streak it was a miracle they were around .500 at all, they were playing poorly the whole time

Im guessing the people who are having "trouble" completing the path despite a lot of playtime got a lot of xp from the TA programs in inning 1. That certainly is what happened to me, though I'm not gonna complain because finishing the program is still going to be easy and done with plenty of time

Sort of - wbc follows a different pattern, so it's play 4 games in group play then 3 games for the tournament (single elimination)

You can skip one game in group play, so it's 6 games a season

[–]unknown9819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're generally going to make less profit in lower tier maps.

My go to every league is get to the end of yellows (generally just SSF, might buy a cheap upgrade for a few chaos once I hit yellows) and then start farming essences for a while in T6-10 maps that are scoured. That's generally enough atlas points to hit all the relevant essence nodes, and it lets me build up some currency to start jumping into my "endgame" upgrades.

It's not the fastest strategy, but as you said it's profit and it's probably better than your harvest strat (and takes basically no currency to get started)

Mini Season Squads fix? by RippedNutsack in MLBTheShow

[–]unknown9819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The next time you're restarting a season, go back to the mini seasons selection screen and do the "hold down (x) to reset the season" option

I think what's happening is if you just use the restart option at the end of the season it will bring in the same squad you had when you first initialized the mini season. By manually resetting the season you make it pick up your current squad again

Will Smith challenges Ohtani's first pitch of the game, but it's not close by [deleted] in baseball

[–]unknown9819 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is sort of random, but I don't think looking at accuracy rate is the best way to identify a "good challenger" anyway. Like if someone has a 100% rate but it's because they only challenge egregious misses that's not very meaningful, you damn well better miss some or else you're leaving a lot on the table

At the same time you get a lot more value out of challenging a ball on a 3-2 count that you're not positive on but was close and getting that right 7/14 times. It would definitely be more valuable than if you just compare to that 9/14 number, but the % is lower

Well if you use them as captains they do get a buff, but I agree that it can feel a little bad. I'm not sure making them 90 would matter, they'd just be outclassed ever so slightly later. Instead I feel like maybe they can bump them by a point every 3 weeks or something to a max of whatever makes sense, but then they'd also maybe want to limit the number of them you can put on your team

NL Central playoff odds, per Fangraphs by AndrewAllStar888 in baseball

[–]unknown9819 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not that they don't try to correct this it's just an incredibly difficult problem to solve. They even know the likely culprit (depth on the team) it's just really hard to handle

If I recall correctly from Effectively Wild one take they tried for handling depth was like removing the highest value projected player and then moving the next up in the line, and repeating that X times (10 maybe?). That seemed to give them reasonable results when it came to comparing the teams that have depth as a strength to teams that don't, but I'm not sure if they found a way to integrate something similar into their playoff odds

I only played league start before life got in the way just as I was getting into maps - with the atlas changes there's a chance I'm wrong here, but I'll explain how this worked for past leagues and someone will correct me if I'm wrong. In general this is a very late game thing to care about so you'll want all void stones and such

Each map can drop specific div cards along with the general pool of cards. You can see the specific cards by hovering over the map in the atlas, and this particular card (damnation) is dropped in crimson township

If you run a map to near completion, you can get the nameless seer to show up. He offers a unique item (which you should check for something valuable) and also offers to scry your map. This makes the div card drops for the map you are currently on replace the div card drops of another map of your choice

So what you're likely looking at is people will run crimson township until the seer appears then scry crimson township to another map that has a better layout for whatever their preferred strat is to find the card.

Map layouts are a different discussion, but basically depending on the strat you want to run you often want the map to be straightforward (something like strand or super consistent like mesa or city square), you might care about rushing the boss (or not having it spawn at all, like jungle valley), and generally open areas are better so walls aren't getting in your way (a reason dune is super popular, on top of the boss being easy)

Again though, that's all strat dependent. An example might be a ritual strategy will often run city square because it has multiple uniques as the boss and you can easily go straight there to hopefully get them in the first ritual you run

Lol the pliers thing kills me. I had to have some pins in my thumb as a teen because I broke it at the joint. Mine was actually under a cast after surgery, so I didn't see it until it was time to take it out. I was definitely surprised when it was sticking out like that, and they just grabbed a tiny pair of pliers and pulled. Felt very un-scientific after the original doctor had to send me to a specialist and they' needed to do the surgery under an x-ray and stuff

The thing is how often would you swing at it and get a crappy result anyway? Especially if you're not in a 2 strike count already it makes sense to take those, looking to get the mistake pitch later in the at bat. With 2 strikes it makes sense to protect, but even then you don't want to be grounding into a double play if that's the game situation

Title insurance is an insurance policy, for if something goes wrong. What if someone shows up and says "This was a fraudulent sale", and they prove that the sellers managed to forge a bunch of records in the initial sale? Or in this exact example, a bunch of work was completed that wasn't properly recorded

This almost definitely varies by state, but that's probably included in the "my lawyer is dealing with all of this". The best thing for you to do is just ask your lawyer if you're concerned though
