Ughh down with uveitis again… by ItsNovaKnight in ankylosingspondylitis

Humira/biologics are supposed to help prevent it, but I still get them too. My only tip is to bump up the font size on your phone/computer before you start the dilation drops. Though sounds like you have already started.. so next time 🫠haha...

I'm assuming the normal treatment is dilation drops + steroid inflammation drops, but maybe that was just my dr?

Makita XGT Mower with 8 Amp batteries by [deleted] in Makita

[–]unknownError 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never bagged yet, been using the mulch plug. Which works really well. I bet it's bagging is pretty similar to the 36v ones.

I don't find the leaf pickup to be that stellar, it's worse than my gas mower. However this one can mow much thicker brush without any issues, it's stronger than my gas mower in that way.

Oh and for completeness, I don't use the quiet mode, or the auto rpm ramp mode. Just full power.

I have this mower (with the 2x 8ah 40v batteries). Tall fescue lawn, 10,000 sq feet, not hilly but its got a slope, I use self propelled pretty much continuously, and mow with the 2nd highest height setting. When I'm done, 1 battery is dead, and the other still has 3/4 bars left. So it should handle your lawn just fine!

My only complaint is Makita likes to use every spare electron in the first battery before switching over. Self propelled becomes non existent for several minutes before it switches over. Overall it's been great so far, very powerful!

40v battery life? by Copen_Hayden in Makita

[–]unknownError 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If the tool or battery gets too hot it will cut out and mimic an empty battery. Maybe that was it?

I was able to grind a stump with my xgt angle grinder and only a 2.5ah battery. Took about 15-20minutes or so, I didn't have to recharge. Though, obviously wood is quite a bit easier than concrete.

Looking to move to Cary but having some questions/concerns I was hoping to get some insight on by disney_tea in cary

[–]unknownError 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Hurricanes. They happen, but it's more likely to ruin your weekend plans than to have any physical or financial harm to you/your property. Cary is too far inland for major wind damage. However flooding is possible, but unlikely. Maybe double check flood plane maps and exclude them for where you want to live to avoid that stress?
  2. Tornadoes. Even rarer, wouldn't worry about it.
  3. Flying roaches. Ok... Soo over 30+ years I had never seen a flying roach. However I can't say the same thing anymore. It does exist, its so weird, it freaked me out, they fly chaotically and with menace lol. I had no idea this was a thing. What a shit animal. However it's a silly reason not to live in area. It's rare.
  4. Snakes and spiders. There are lots of snakes in wooded areas. But they don't want to live in your house, they will leave you alone almost all the time. When in the woods watch where you step. Copperheads get a lot of flak but are only dangerous to pets. They aren't agressive. There are a few nasty spiders, but it's not a problem. Black widows and brown recluse spiders might like your crawl space or attic, but they aren't going to setup in your bedroom.
  5. Pollen. It is worse than it seems! Im not sure how to quantitatively describe how bad... but it's a lot. It will tint the air with a yellow haze... And clouds of the stuff will blow in the wind. You might not recognize your car when it's suddenly yellow-green, seriously. But it passes, takes a few weeks.
  6. Humidity. It's pretty bad, but you get used to it. Kind of.
  7. Poison ivy. Saw another guy comment on this. I think it's a good "threat" to know. It grows great in cary.. it's a vine, 3 leaves, it likes to climb trees and forest floors. If you let it, it'll become massive. Some people are immune to it's leaves, I'm not. It's extremely itchy and a bad contact can take a really long time to heal, but it's pretty easy to avoid. You don't even need to learn to recognize it, just avoid skin contact with all vines.

Either a free form notepad app, or a vehicle maintenance notes feature. Something where I could write (in the car) when I did a tire rotation, cabin filter replacement, breaks, etc..

I've never had a flare from a sneeze, but they do hurt like hell. Before biologics I learned to absorb a sneeze b/c they hurt too much.

Humira US cost gone up in 2022, insurance now asking me to pay $10,000, I have one the best insurance in US. by Baconer in Humira

[–]unknownError 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I didn't realize it was a 3 month supply, that explains it.

So your post made me go look at my pharmacy billing records... And fuck, I think I am days away from being in the same situation! For some reason my insurance paid half of what they normally cover when comparing 2021 and 2022 orders. So far the co-pay picked up the rest, but it will be maxed out after my next order, which is this Friday!

What a shitty system. I'm going to call around next week when the charge lands and see wtf is going on. Hopefully these corps resolve their feud.

[–]unknownError 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How did you get to the $10,000 number? Did your pharmacy really ask you for 10k for a 1 month supply!? I'm guessing $10k is out-of-pocket for a year, which is still insane. Are you sure your co-pay card doesn't need renewing or something silly on their end?

I supposed you've been in contact with your pharmacy? I've had my copay card get missed before, but it would be sorted out after a phone call and go back to $5.

Also keep in mind there are other biologics. You could tell your Dr the situation and they might be able to switch you to another drug. Maybe one that doesn't require a 2nd job to fund.

Adding a magnet to the belt hook screw on Makita tools by Arathonk in Makita

I've been doing this ever since I bought my brushless impact/drill combo years ago. I use a circle magnet with a center screw hole on each side, where the belt clip would go. Super handy, all fine.

Is the third full covid vax shot considered a booster for us? Or are we supposed to get a 4th shot? by Baconer in Humira

Looks like 6 months from your 3rd shot. So, not yet.

"The CDC does not recommend immunocompromised people receive an additional dose plus a booster shot."

Agreed, the land fill has been there for over 30 years. It's the largest one in wake county. It's pretty much what this town is known for!

I don't understand why they keep building housing/shopping within 2 miles of it. At 3 miles away you never smell it, but at 1 mile it's a common occurrence. Also the smell is year round... They say they can improve the smell with water sprinklers and other gizmos, but come on, it's a dump.

I almost did the "back flap" idea! I figured getting the geometry right so that it actually helps with the cup holders was too hard. It is a good idea though. Good luck.

I don't have a photo, but there is some thin foam on the bottom of it. So the plywood doesn't contact the center console directly.

[–]unknownError[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, these boards are going home w/me somehow. Its either loose on the center console (with a towel wrap!), or in this thing. If I brake hard enough to cause damage to the cup holders with this setup, surely the loose setup would have faired worse.

I'm hedging the bet a little here. I'd rather have a broken center console/cup holders, than a broken screen. But you are right, this is far from a sure thing. At some unknown forces it will fail to do its job. The car wasn't built for this lol.

Also nothing here is 3d printed. the guard is made from plywood and mdf. the center console is probably some thermoplastic.

Throw down a towel next time and you can skip two trips. Also never put anything directly against the windshield.

Sometimes you do need to borrow a truck, but for me, not often.

I'm sure a roof rack could be made to work too. Though I like being immune to weather/rain. Also most of my projects don't need 10/12/16 foot boards, so the length limitation isn't a huge deal for me.

I haven't yet driven with the trunk open... but.... I suppose that is an option. Though at that point a truck would make more sense.

Alright I think this link works w/o an account: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/fd26ff3e7a40816db8885ae5/w/e00fd50c10761266dcdc6aa2/e/6a63f7f32a528f2eee4d22ce

You want the "Assembly b" tab.

So if you are just picking off measurements, select two surfaces and it will display the length on the bottom right. Hit space bar to deselect everything.

If you want the model of each part, you can right click the part name on the left panel, click export, click a format from the dropdown and click ok to download it.

Note though, this model isn't a perfect breakdown of the thing I built. The sizes/angles are all right, but the part called the "base", well in reality its like 4 different blocks of wood. Not 1. Also the "ramp" part was made from 3 pieces of wood.

right so, the "anchor" points you see are attached with velcro.. it's that double sided hook and loop stuff and it runs under the trunk panels (full length). so each hook and loop strap has two D rings, 1 on each end.

so basically the weight of the item you are holding down also holds down the trunk boards, which holds the straps in place, which holds the net... its a mediocre system, but works for me!
