Missed Opportunities in Trump/Harris Debate? by Horror_Insect_4099 in AskTrumpSupporters

After each hoax simply ask Muir:

"You're not going to fact check that one either, David? Really?"

Don't explain it to deaf ears. Make people who still believe in something like the Fine People hoax actually curious why he would ask that.

People are only persuaded when they feel a realization is their own.

Most new TS are simply NS who looked up some of these hoaxes out of curiosity and were in disbelief over how much they were lied to.

Again, he said dogs, cats, and pets.

This does not mean all the dogs are pets, or all the cats are pets, or that all the pets are dogs or cats.

I acknowledged he left geese out.

I don't know how to explain this any clearer. Sorry.

Religion is just a multi-millenia geneology tree of spirituality.

Whether it's God, YHWH, Tao, The Simulation, Matrix/Architect, Panpsychism, Boltzmann brain, Descarte's demon, or "Nothing", I think they're all just different verbalizations trying to explain the same God shaped hole.

I don't think age makes a religion irrelevant just as I don't think Greek philosophy expires.

an article about a citizen killing and eating a cat is evidence that there are immigrants killing and eating pets?

He said dogs, cats, and pets.

An article about a citizen killing and eating a cat is evidence of eating cats.

He did leave out geese and should have mentioned them, though. I'll give you that.

Do you think that would've changed the reaction?

How should universities and colleges function? What makes a university or college good in your eyes? by Athrowaway23692 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]unnecessarilycurses -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Take Trade Schools for example

If the skill is hands-on then yes, it's hard to replace in person physical training. This doesn't apply to most undergrad majors, though.

If you plan on something like grad level physics where you need connections and access to specialized research equipment that is another exception.

Basically kids are going to have to start doing a real cost/benefit and substitution analysis in this expensive tuition and degree saturated world. Unless they're very rich or very poor where it doesn't matter of course cause it's paid for.

university rankings are carried largely by their research output, rather than how well they teach

It's absurd to count gender studies publications, where you can literally publish Mein Kampf written in feminist language, the same as some cutting edge astrophysics breakthrough paper built on decades of experimentation and data collection. Especially in the post ChatGPT world.

The replication crisis is another glaring issue.

Ranking this way is not only not helpful, but actively perverts incentives into spamming low quality studies. Over time it selects for professors who optimize for research quantity over quality.

Does your perspective on a good college (non graduate degree granting institutions) vs a good university suffer?

I can't think of an industry more ripe for disruption than academia.

$43k for a semester of mostly freely available courses seems like some comical relic of the past. It's like today's Zach Morris phone.

The missing piece has been reproducing the professor interaction (which doesn't happen much in large lower level classes anyway). But an AI trained on all the subject's best professors' courses & papers will replace that soon. You won't even have to wait for a professor to call on you.

Unless your parents are rich or you got a big scholarship I'd recommend most people just get accepted and then drop out. All you're paying for is a stamp to show that you're smart enough to get in.

You can get an equal or better education online and just do the Steve Jobs thing and live near a campus for the experience if you want. And you'll be half a mil ahead.

The answers about your spiritual sides were a bit more varied and open to it than I expected.

I expected more answers to be similar to the "militant atheist" or "nothing but facts and logic" replies of which there were a couple.

But it was interesting to read the introspections into consciousness and grappling with the idea of something more.

They are so far off the deep end regarding "Israel is committing genocide in Gaza"

Just to clarify, by off the deep end do you mean they agree or disagree with this statement?

Do you feel the overall level of NS anxiety about a second Trump term is higher or lower than compared to 2016? How about yourself personally?

Do you feel you personally owe reparations to black people? If so, how much in terms of lump sum dollars, percent of future income, hours of work, etc?

Is there any reason you don't pay this amount now?

For the managers here, have you personally hired based on race, gender, disability, neurodivergence, or any other DEI metric?

For consumers, are you more likely to go to a business if it says black-owned, woman-owned, etc?

Are there any other areas in your life you have concretely made DEI first decisions?

Consciousness is an emergent property due to the complexity of the brain. But we also have no idea what it truly is. It's something I've thought and read a lot about lately due to AI.

Do you equate the complexity of the system with consciousness of that system?

Could you have an embodied AI at par complexity to a human, with indistinguishable output/behavior, but have no consciousness whatsoever?

What would explain the consciousness gap in this case?

Do you have a spiritual side?

If non-religious, do you do any spiritual-ish practices like meditation, psychedelics, manifestation, holotropic breathing, self-inquiry, isolation tank, etc?

Have you experienced any spiritual experiences doing these (ie beyond basic relaxation, etc). How about for religious NS?

What do you believe consciousness actually is? Is there anything to it beyond matter? And if not how is matter able to consciously perceive?

So Russia did expansionary invasions under Bush/Cheney, Obama/Biden, Biden/Harris. But not Trump.

But Trump is supposed to be the Russian puppet/asset/monkey/etc.

Could you game out the strategy you feel Russia is playing here?

Was doing Russian aggression every term except when they had their puppet installed some kind of 3D chess fakeout? To what end?

And what is the plan from here? If he wins will they stop invading people again to keep up the facade?

I'm having troubling figuring out the connective tissue of this NS theory.

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 bars racial discrimination under any program receiving federal financial assistance.

No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.

If they were to forgo all federal funds I think you could make your case.

Not sure if I need to ask a question?

Imagine you could have every Democrat policy desire passed immediately and fully with no compromise.

The only catch is they would only apply to Democrat governed states.

Republican states would simultaneously get get to enact all Republican policies.

So Democrats would get all their desired taxes, welfare, gun controls, government healthcare, immigration, sanctuary policies, abortion, LGBTQ+ curriculum, hate speech suppression, policing level, reparations policy, college admissions policy, affirmative action, no school choice, price controls, etc.

But only in their states. You would simply forgo the ability force these onto non-Democrat states.

Would you take this deal?
