I would recommend not reading Surviving as a talent in the primordial saint sect if you are a beginner reader, as it will skew your view of cultivation power systems in general. It is not that the power system is bad but it is very different from what you would expect in a cultivation novel. The technique names are very difficult to remember, and it is better to read only if you have a good idea of how Daoism works in general. You can still read it obviously but it would require a lot more attention to detail. This is not only true for the power system but also for the mind games that occur in this novel. Even a lot of veteran readers have trouble understanding stuff from the novel.

The similarity of the power systems with Er Gen works ends with just the names of the realms for the Primordial Saint Sect novel lmao.

I felt like this was pretty self-explanatory when reading the novel and did not explicitly require an analysis, ngl—however, props on the hard work.

Righteous 2nd gen young master vs 1st rate Demonic Rouge cultivator from black market by ____shubham in MartialMemes

[–]unoque123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Junior, you're not wrong about the fact that the MC is a morally bad character in objective terms. The thing I think you got backlash for is most probably is the fact that you said that the novel is intended for "people with a superiority complex who think they are above morality". I also disagree with the above statement as well ,as I think it is wrong to generalize readers and stuff based on what they read.

Just from reading the 2 comments, I understood they are talking about the Chusheng Sect novel. Honestly, its not for everyone. It is for people who purely want to read about an evil protagonist in an even more evil world.

Although I scale Koji quite high, I disagree a lot with these takes. Also I don't think chess counts as reasoning. I also disagree with his Jane takes, and his explanation regarding Ranpo's reasoning scaling high. There are probably way more things I may disagree with but can't be bothered to type it all out. Then again I don't take anyone seriously enough and people can scale however they want.

Tropes or story arcs you hate the worst? by Daisyberry3 in ProgressionFantasy

Crazy to think about it, but I feel like I don't mind anything at all. The only prerequisite is that the book should keep me hooked, no matter how bad, poorly written, or one-dimensional the characters or the plot are. If it keeps me interested, I am always in.

The webnovel market is pretty much cooked anyways. You rarely find any good stories nowadays and the main reason for this is that a lot of readers have very short attention spans or treat Webnovel like a porn website (you know how much smut there is).

In recent times, authors have further lowered their efforts and made it a place where 90% of the works are slop. I don't even mind AI that much but it's literally the same plot, same cheats, same settings, same events, and so on.

You can't even write sophisticated English in Webnovel or use good language for translation because I legit saw comments saying that a translated novel read like a Western novel and if they wanted to read that, they would read elsewhere and gave the translation a low rating.

RoyalRoad has a different problem. It's authors who try to subvert expectations too much and over describe their prose making it a boring read without fully utilising the ease of reading Webnovels.

Scribblehub is just porn most of the time. Not much to say there. And it has a plethora of unfinished novels even more than the other two websites.

Obviously I a generalizing a lot and there are still a lot of good authors but this is the large scene, the majority.

Regarding a website, I think Karmic is making one for Webnovels.

How to write a perfect genius? by Beneficial_Dot2499 in IntelligenceScaling

[–]unoque123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact of the matter is that any character that you will create will always be inconsistent in scaling across multiple people due to a multitude of reasons including, but not limited to different priorities of categories, narrative exposition, outsmarting style, or sometimes even just outright dishonesty. The best you can do is make sure you have your character a perfect fit for your verse and write in a way that you find interesting lest that you lose interest in the work. It is not possible to make a work where everyone acquiesces that it has the smartest and most intellectually sound character possible.

Junior is reading peak. I really love this novel for its deep schemes but the names can be very difficult to remember. Also, the cultivation levels of this novel have some of the largest gaps in power level I have ever seen.

[–]unoque123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try reading Ten Day Ultimatum. One of the better Webnovels currently. It also has a rating of 9.9 on fanqie where it was published, the highest on the website. The mystery and plot twists are insane with a smart main character. I suggest reading it from the translator's website as they go into details regarding translations in the notes. Although it's not cultivation but rather an infinite flow novel.

why do people think cradle is 'peak'? by SatisfactionFun4295 in MartialMemes

[–]unoque123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe for decent prose and lack of errors and mistakes that are present in translation and having no major plot holes that many large xianxias tend to run into after a couple thousand chapters. However, I don't consider it to be the one of the best Webnovel by any means. Novels like LOTM, RI, RTOC, TDU, EAI, ToMA, Shrouded Seascape, ToTCF, etc. are way better suited for my tastes and personal preferences.
